I remember Chris mentioning that the art team had to tone down the realism of the spiders in Closed Beta because some arachnophobes would freak out too hard.

When will you self-obsessed people be happy? When they look like a fkn pink my little pony?

It's harsh, but it's true. If your arachnophobia is so extreme, just don't play. You can't expect a small company to spend all this time for such a small community when there's so much more important things to do.

Theres dead baby corpses in the game too.
Theres murals of babys sacrificing babys on altars with knifes.
Theres blood, theres door, theres closed spaces.
Theres open spaces.
Theres human corpses, theres dogs.
Theres fire.
Theres water.
Theres sharp weapons.
Theres blunt weapons.

Theres phobias for pretty much everything.
We all know how skyrim fixed the spider issues, and how the fix was even more awkward.
(Incase people dont, all spiders became the internet famed hug-bear).

Not to be mean or anything but if your Arachnophobia is bad enough to keep you from playing a game due to pixel spiders then you should see some therapy. Again, not trying to be rude but what happens if you see a spider in your car while driving on the highway? You could get yourself killed, or others.

Yeah, i mean by the way it sounds like.
OP should be in hospital, as hes/shes a danger to society if a spider show up and OP drives a car or a bicycle.
Again not to be mean, i have phobias too.
But if they are that bad id seek proffesional help, as soon as possible.
Theres medication that will help, and therapy.

(Isnt there a law against people with certain... medical/psychological issues from driving cars?
Just curious, i know theres *legally blind* and such.
But would extreme phobias be in the same law of driving inhibiting reasons?)

We have had 'arachnophobia' threads on these boards for as long as I can remember, so it's clearly an issue not to be taken lightly.

I know that exposing yourself to the phobia's triggers is one of the 'cures' but I'm a total pussy so I just avoid known issues by and large.

Strangely enough I'd still support GGG financially because it's a great game. I just wouldn't play it myself.

I suppose a mtx to 'fix' this is possible but that to me might open a floodgate to other 'changes'. As someone mentioned, haemophobia would be REALLY problematic...

I am very interested in playing this game, but I also have a fairly severe case of arachnophobia... I see a therapist, but it's still a steep hill to climb. If there is an option to reskin the spiders, that would be awesome! I mean, it couldn't be that hard, could it? I feel like this could help a lot of players, both current and future.

Then the floodgates will open.
Blood phobia, open spaces phobia, door phobia, enclosed spaces phobia, water phobia, sand phobia, and so on.

One re-skin due to a very small amount of people will lead to more asking for more reskins and we will and end up with square white blocks moving around... hmm wait that might upset the square white block phobia people... hmm well no game at all then i guess! Censor EVERYTHING! Wait there might be phobias for that too.... hmm

Sure if GGG wants to make the skins its their work their doing, im not saying its not what they should do.
Its about equality, if one phobia get attention and re-skins, the rest of the people with phobia will soon be there to say "Re-skin blood" "re-skin zombies" "re-skin the monkeys" "re-skin the dead babies" and so on.
Im actually surprised no one mentioned blood phobia thus far and said "Re-skin away blood".)
