Framerate drops rapidly

ATI Radeon 5770. Runs the game a 160 FPS and then drops to 20- FPS whenever anything elemental appears on screen.

having same problem, glad im not the only 1 lol. also running 70-100 fps and dropping to 5-10 when i fight mobs sometime. and groups are just a lagg fest for me when everyone does light damage and stuff like that.

6950 reporting for duty. Terrible framerates in groups

HD6850 same issue unplayable in act 3 in large groups, parties or lots of elemental going off.

Radeon HD6310 reporting in. Same problem here, completely unplayable at times. Died 15-20 (lost count) times in a row to Piety first time I fought her. I would so much love to start an HC character but as it stands now, that is totally out of the question.
Surely it couldn't be that hard to include an option to turn the spell effects that cause these issues off, or get a driver hotfix from AMD? DxDiag in case anyone is interested:

The same problem remains with my computer i.e. Radeon 5770 1 GB RAM, Phenom II 4x3.2Ghz, 4 GB RAM. Please make sure to fix these constant FPS drops asap as you may be just loosing your potential players because of these issues.

It's become significantly worse with the last patches. I really wish GGG would acknowledge this, I'm getting tired of the game, and think I'm quitting til this is fixed. Can't play in parties, played solo already, not really that fun to play solo all the time.
I mean, just LOOK at this. Those ping spikes are from this game killing my processor and the game just shutting down while it loads the spell effects. I maintain around 2-3 FPS til people stop casting spells.

   Oh, and the reason my game looks like shit is because I've gone ahead and manually lowered textures lowers than the in-game UI allows you to in an effort to combat this terrible frame dropping and it hasn't worked. So game looks bad + can't play in parties now. I might add that party I screenshotted before leaving was titled "No lightning arrow/strike" and you see 50% of the parties on the list with titles like "no poison arrow" "no summoners" "no totems." If half the game's spells are killing people's PC's in a F2P game then there is a pretty big problem, and I've been reading/posting in these threads for a good 3+ weeks now without a single reply so I wonder if GGG has any interest in fixing it. I realize it sounds bitchy; the game is FREE, after all, and in beta. You can chalk it up to me liking the game so much and not being able to play making me grumpy. I really wish they would just allow me to turn off other people spell effects, my fps drops to 5 while im in a full party
