Sean's DW Blood Tanky DPS
frenzy the skill is a simple when you use it and hit the enemy you can a charge each charge is worth 5% attack speed along with bonuses for certain skills (frenzy skill being one of them with extra attack speed and damage per charge if i remember right). blood rage is a skill that you use it buffs you a certain time killing an enemy refreshes the buff. the buff gives you the benefits of a frenzy charge for enemy killed and attack speed and LL for a constant damage penalty.
Idea behind is to be able to get more life than lost using the increased attack speed with LL and life on hit. |

Alright, with this build would it make sense to use both in an engagement (1v1 and multiple enemies) or simply rely on BR to generate attack speed.

I am using similar build to yours. Just started different way - Iron Reflexes, Blood Magic and Blood Drinker first. I am A2 Cruel - level 45. So far I had no problem with dps output (about 1k+ dps with Dual Strike unbuffed - breezing through stuff).
But I rely very much on life steal. In bigger packs my health jumps up and down like crazy even that I have decent ele resists - like 40 / 65 / 65 and 1500 armor with grace, about 1k HP pool (800 after reserving). As I didnt see Merc yet, I would like to know if I should focus on defensive build from now on and get dps from gems + gear? Or do I need to balance defense and offense in my build as mobs in Merc has huge life pools? I like the playstyle - rush in, swing swords like crazy, run out. I dont plan to play carefully anytime soon. I always find whats behind the corner the hard way. And one more question - is there any decent way to get "cannot be frozen" affix? I saw only some uniques, that are not viable for Duelist or not viable for endgame.. Cheers Sean for bringing this thread up. Last edited by Saery#0396 on Feb 7, 2013, 7:54:51 AM

" Act two cruel and i had issues with some areas. Running with guns blazing around the corner will get you killed. that ends in loss of XP and this makes it painful. However once i updated my gear it went much easier. I am in act 3 now and it seems to go very good. In fact it feels easier then broken bridge area in act two when i was level 45. I noticed thought that before i was able to hit most white mobs with two Dual Strikes. Now it takes four so looks like weapon crafting/trading is going to happen soon for me. However Uniques still not an issue with fully charged Frenzy. In my build i focused bit more on defense to start with so now with no endurance charges my physical resistance is at 58%. As to Merc difficulty i can't comment as i didn't play it yet myself but i am expecting extended times of farming before i will be able progress between acts. |

" This build does have a pretty high "patience" cap, I call it haha. You have to really manipulate the positioning of mobs in your favor before you can go Rambo. Later stages of the game you really can't just leap into a fresh room of mobs and expect to come out alive. Yes this build is tanky, but you're no TANK. IGN: Seanald (Duelist), Seanlol (Shadow)

" BR only gives you attack speed when you're at Low Health. The nature of this build keeps you topped pretty much constantly. If you aren't topped you probably need to pop a flask of some kind. That's the main reason I don't like to run BR, although I included it because its a "crowd favorite". With a good Gem setup/Warlord's Mark/Regen nodes, you have very good sustain... Your tankiness comes from incredibly high sustain health with minor armor mitigation. IGN: Seanald (Duelist), Seanlol (Shadow)

Hey Sean!
Have you come to any conclusions regarding axes vs swords? Also, whats your hp/dmg atm? Just curious because im about the same level as you following your build :) |

I went fine through act 2 cruel up until vaal. Man that guy was a touch cookie.
But after fash smashing him long enough and multiple town ports he was dead. Now that Im in act 3 I alched a waraxe and it rolled well for dmg. I have cleave through most threats now with little to worry about again. I'll feel much better in a couple levels when I have resolute technique, as when cleave misses with one mob, it misses all things, which can almost be a death sentence if facing too many mobs. My guess is I will stumble through act3 cruel but be ok for the most part. I'm pretty worried about merciless though. |
