Sean's DW Blood Tanky DPS

@Tharkun

Any reason for Life On Hit with Dual Strike ? I only use this skill for 1v1 (tops when there are two oponents in the area). By that time with Warlords Mark and life leach from items + passive health regen i get so much health back that only when fighing bosses i need to use flasks. So for my single target DPS skill i use faster attacks/Physical Damage. I think this combination is much better as this gem adds hughe boost to your single target damage. Combined with Frenzy stacks it melts uniques in seconds when 1v1. And with higher Physical Damage you life leech more as well.

I have yet to die in 1v1 (not counting boss encounters) so using Life On Hit is not optimal IMHO.
Nice Guide! How does this build fair in merciless?

If played correctly you should have no problems until you hit Act 3. But every class solo has a hard time in there...

Do you guys know any uniques that specifically work well with this build?

Well the obvious ones would be Dream Fragment ring and Maligaro's for more damage (Unless you're running the Resolute Technique variant of course).

Thanks for the guide im lvl 36 and so far awesome seem as if i get through this easier than my mates who are Templar and Marauder.
I love the idea of the tanky dps and so far this guide seems to fullfill that :)
Now i do have one note you mention at least one time that this build needs a great itemization.

So why do you not have some notes on that?
I know that i will be going dual wield but how does evasion rating scale to armour and what would be the correct priority on this build?
Since the passive tree adds tons of STR points should i be going for dex on my items?
I am not in doubt of which sockets i need as you went through your gem combinations.

But other than that i have much doubt on which stats to focus on when i gear up :)

Thank you very much in advance!!

TL;DR

Would love if some sort of gearing guide to this build could be added!
Not much one for posting in general, or trying to justify myself, but this build is what got me excited to playa duelist

I've since done some editing of my own. Mainly I wanted resolute tech since if I wasn't going that route I would have went with swords for their increased accuracy inherent traits and passives with built in accuracy that were more accessible. So twin terrors is dropped. I prefer the second steel skin set (50% armor) over the armor mastery set up at the mara start (43% armor +2% movespeed). I also take the endurance charges, blood drinker, and elemental adaptation (a must in my opinion). I take fencing over near the ranger end of the build, and can't believe you dont either since you already path there. I drop the .4% regen node since it's pretty weak return for the point. I also don't use blood rage since you will need much more than 4% regen per second to sustain it after normal mode due to it dealing chaos dmg and the negative resist you get upon changing difficulty. Took the 40 hp from oak since it's huge for hp builds (equiv of 80 strength) and I dont find capping resists hard with my endurance charges, diamond skins, and gear.

Here is my build:

All in all I like it the most, but hey it's my build so I guess that's a given. Would have to see some solid arguments regarding any changes to it. Mainly just want to post it since this is the thread that inspired my build and duelist in the first place. Thanks for making this thread sean.

on higher levels (50+) i've found that the problem isn't dealing damage, it's surviving the encounters. life on hit with dual strike allows me to at least stay in the fight against a boss/strong unique if i've already blown my flasks taking down his entourage. then again i have a very "fuck everything and charge in" play style with flicker strike/molten shell/leap slam so it may just be me. if you kite mobs away 4-5 at a time you might not need LoH on dual strike as much as i do. also my boots don't exactly allow me to run away when on low life.

currently lvl 58 on merciless act 1 with this build, still seems to work. bloodrage is out though due to the massive chaos damage vulnerability. also resist gear is definitely more important. unless you don't mind dying to elemental reflect mobs and dozens of ice spear mages.

Why no Blood Drinker passive? I think it's really good if your using Blood Magic.

Can someone explain to me the mechanics of using Blood Rage for frezny chargers and Frenzy for charges?

That's just not true, as a shadow I've been able to solo all of act 3 merc and I've soloed maps up to 70 (Haven't found higher level maps yet). Templar, Ranger and Witch are other friends I've had that have been able to do the same.
