Do you think PoE needs a "Loot 2.0" overhaul?
" Sorry, Rory, point taken but i just wanted to answer this.

The best items won't be traded via jsp, it isn't the lack of an AH that is hindering their trade, it isn't the lack of in game trade function (that still exists), it's that they will be bound to the account. Even the jsp bastardisation of the genre can't crack that one.
For the 2nd part, maybe, maybe not. That depends on drop rates, on stat weighting and on rerolling affix weighting. Rerolling gets exponentially more expensive each time. Ironically, 'give people what they want *now* and offer nothing later' is exactly what trade sims do, should you play them that way, and be far to the other extreme if you don't. I personally don't mind that other extreme, I have the time and relish slow progression, but when crafting, content and challenge is gated behind said trade sim play, that's fucking taking the biscuit. Casually casual. Last edited by TheAnuhart#4741 on Jan 26, 2014, 12:38:20 AM

Apologies. Druga gave me my answer. To an extent I get the point, on the other hand, about the only items I have a hard time finding myself are caster wands and good daggers. I've found 500 dps physical weapons, nice belts, rings, ammys, etc.
The only ones where too many variables exist is the 2 I mentioned. |

I think it all comes down to time.
If all leagues were permanent, then I'm fine with crafting and drop rate as-is. I like that 6L's, the most powerful Uniques, and the top crafting orbs are very hard to acquire. Certain things should take thousands of hours of gametime to acquire on average. But the most fun leagues (and those it's hoped we play in) expire in four months. In this timeframe, I'm sure a relative few will amass enough gametime (or wealth) to come close to being able to craft a single 6L (with or without good mods) or get desired gear for their build except with much, perhaps frustrating, trading. I know I can't.. would love to even try a 5L or find one of the Uniques good for my build before I have to start over. Eternal/Exalt crafting for me is completely out of the question - it's not even in the game as far as I'm concerned. And this is if I just primarily play one or two characters. I realize you can't balance for my gametime, but surely you wouldn't balance for those who frequently hit L80-90 in a week either. Unfortunately, with the 4-month leagues moving characters and items into the Standard and Hardcore leagues (a good thing!), I don't think you can just dramatically increase droprates and crafting chances in them to better fit their timeframe - child leagues are supposed to be harder in every way. And doing so in all leagues would be counter to my notion that things should take thousands of hours to acquire in Standard/Hardcore. Are unique droprates still being increased periodically to account for the needle-in-a-haystack issue at least? I do fully support the idea of removing IIR/IIQ from all leagues (with apologies to any affected Unique crafters). I want to find items incidentally while having fun with build-relevent gear rather than by brute force grinding with crippled gear meant solely to find items. Unfortunately, droprates have to be balanced with IIR/IIQ in mind as long as they're present. I don't like the idea of fuses not reducing links as a fix for crafting. Never understood why people would (destroy) fuse a 5L when going for 6L instead of selling the 5L to recoup some costs and trying again on a new item (except in mirror-worthy circumstances). Would lose the fun "gambling" feeling. But rolling more than a 4L in a 4-month league for me is pretty much out of the question - I haven't even seen much in the way of fuses lately for that matter. I don't like the idea of adding treasure goblins.. the Wealth mod and/or Inner Treasure on any mob type is more fun than a potential suicide run, though the risk/reward element is certainly there. I don't like the current trade system (and so essentially ignore it), but I do like the idea of a Marketplace.. a peaceful area where people can sit and set up a temporary shop or walk through and browse others' shops. Should be kicked for inactivity to prevent people staying online 24/7 (and banned for automated countermeasures). Perhaps the solution (for me at least) is simply to have fun in the 4-month leagues acquiring what can be acquired and then play my fun builds eventually in Standard between 4-month leagues? That sounds kinda sad. Wish I could offer a good solution to the timeframe thing, but I'm not sure what would be appropriate. I'm sure that in a 4-month league, that timeframe is effectively "infinite time" w.r.t. acquiring the most elusive of items for many people and never aquiring them will be quite frustrating, at least, and potentially drive them away. Not sure what percentage of gametime in that 4-month league would be considered a reasonable threshold for wealth expectations. I don't think there's any concern to changes that would make those who can obtain great wealth in a short timeframe even more wealthy as that likely wouldn't affect their gameplay much. /shrug |

" That's where people will disagree with you. You only look at the "average", I look at the "minimum" as well. I do not want it to be possible get a 6-link in less than 700 fusings. Everyone should always have to work at least that hard to be able to get a 6-link. There should not be a lucky few that can avoid that work due to being lucky with RNGjesus. i thankfully dont know any details of any part of d3. that being said it would be nice if there is a limit to how low an items affixes can roll based on ilvl. uniques of course would be exempt but...
when u get an item in a lvl 77 map and it rolls the lowest possible value... the same GD value a lvl 10 item can get its kinda disappointing. basically what im suggesting is items from merciless up need to have low end cap on affixes. anyways... " The numbers dwindle. The knights spam rhetoric. | |
" In the same reasoning as my previous post: In a 4-month league, I'd agree with you at least to some extent.. a lessening of the available/useless mods to give better gear in the short 4-month timeframe. In a permanent league, I'd completely disagree with you. But the 4-month leagues are children of the permanent leagues and can't be made easier than them. |
