Im just confused as to why you would play a "hardcore" league if you're a casual player is all. They have a casual friendly league called ambush, you can die as much as you want with all the loot the casuals love. But the problem with games now a days, is casuals want to be a part of everything, its why Diablo/World of Warcraft went to shit in all honesty.

I'm just confused why players that trade for progression call themselves hardcore at all by bypassing one of the main mechanics that defines a hardcore player.

I guess hardcore has been redefined over the years so as not to let those filthy traders feel left out when toting the best items they can afford and trivializing content.

lol

You should probably not play an online ARPG if you dont like trading. Diablo II was an offline game as well for this fact. Trading is one of the many aspects of an ARPG that makes it so much fun.

You don't get to define what's fun for people.

Indeed it can be fun for some players, which is there preference, but isn't part of the hardcore ARPG player mindset (or at least in past decades) as it trivializes the one thing that most ARPGs offer a challenge in .... progression by ones own hand and working with what you're dealt.

Not for me. I have been playing ARPGs since D1 and I hate trading.

I'll go so far as to say that trading is the most casual thing in an ARPG.

I always saw it as that too, trading is easy its prob the best way to describe trading, casual. nothing hardcore or interesting or mechanic about it.
hit me up @sarrow lets have fun :D

Exactly what I am thinking.
oh man, have you EVER posted something positive about the game? i don't think so and searching your post history really would depress me.

My reasons from a solo player perspective with THOUSANDS hours spend
in D2LOD, D2 mods, TQ and mods, Sacred, etc...:

this is not D2, DR, TQ or sacred, it's a different game which is difficult to play, in which it is difficult to survive, where you meet unbeatable bosses early in the game and where you have to deal with the rest of your playerbase to advance faster.

1. Design philosophy more oriented on trade and virtual economy than on gameplay and solo player experience.

this is an multiplayer online game, not a online solo player game.
you really expect a multiplayer online game to encourage players to solo it?

2. Even with '1' as prime design principle GGG is extremely tolerant to exploiters, cheaters and RMTers.

you know the statistics? i'm not.
people complain alot and make plenty of random accusations towards other players.

but proving them and finally take the consequences is time consuming and making mistakes while enforcing the rules can be fatal for your reputation as a game company.

KarraKurri wrote:
3. Designing totally unfair 'competitions' with basically allowed RMT and for example kill selling (Atziri).

why unfair?
where does it say in the rules that it allows rmt?
where does it say, getting help killing atziri is not allowed? if devs would have put up this rule it could have been easily enforced by making the atziri fight solo only.

4. 'everything must be RNG gated' and 'everything must be RNG based'.. EVERYTHING.

rng helps binding the playerbase with most of the money, people with rare spare time because they have a busy job.
if 10k fusings would guarantee a chest to get 6 linked, it would take me half a year to get there and some traders and nolifers a week to get 2-3 of them. this really would discourage me as a normal player.

"
KarraKurri wrote:
5. Lack of QA and balance testing (SoTV)

where is the balance missing? bosses in corrupt areas were designed to teach players early that you can't do all the content the game provides. a valuable lesson for things they will discover later in the game. and it encourages group play, when i did corrupted areas after ambush started i simply called in friends which were in mercyless to beat the bosses after i cleared the area.

7. Extremely shitty droprates of better uniques and 'crafting' materials due to global economy... more D3 than D3.

you see a duelist running around who doesn't have a bringer of rain on it's head? yes you did? then he probably did a skin transfer to not look like 90% f the rest of duelists.

8. Developers thinkng that wining in a casino = skill and RNG = difficulty when both are only luck. Overall - game is not skill based.

where is the rng element when fighting atriri, vaal, piety and so on? the crits you get? getting the right combination of skill gems, gear and passive points together is random? the timing of your mouse movements and skill triggers is random?

what you probably meant is: "whining in a casino is skill", i would totaly agree.

9. This is not HnS loot hunt game anymore. Its more like virtual RMT heaven.

and get your account locked, good luck with that. rmt against the rules and ggg does it's best within it's means to fight it.

if i had the choice of having support answer my requests within a day or having to wait some weeks because they're busy discovering accounts with rmt violations i would chose the prior.

10. Adding new and more broken stuff and ignoring issues like desync and performance (not adding graphics options, performance in dominus fight, etc..).
not adding stuff will not attract customers.
the complaints about testing are a point i acknowledge, although i find it really hard to see a way of making testing perfect in a game as complex as poe. and i do software testing professionally.

12. Lack of typical and beloved HnS games features (normal gear customization like in D2/TQ for example or item sets, NORMAL and USABLE not totallty RNG based crafting, ...) and zero desire to add them... instead we get MORE RNG!

you don't know whats in the pipeline (me neither) but gear customization is definitive improvable.

13. Lack of developers dialogue with community and overall developers stubborness. I dont see something like that for a long time. Designers should be open minded - POE designers are exact opposite.

developers != designers
they always made clear they came together to develop a game they always wanted to play, while listening to the player base.
and they still do although i also get the impression that lately responses (from all devs) to good posts are rare but responses to holdless accusations and mindless whining get more immediate responses. in reddit it's much better where devs get into dialog with players more relaxed. i may exclude mark_ggg from my complaint as he really does a great job giving details of ingame mechanics.

15. Biggest problem in this game atm... "Wilson curse" ... its just like in D3. Game director (infamous Jay Wilson) and devs THINKS that they make fun stuff and good design job. When for majority of players is exacly opposite and they are completelty out of touch with their own game, it issues and playerbase.

blizzard made D3 to satisfy their shareholders. ggg is independent. an important difference.

so for financial reasons blizzard must please it's customer base, spoil them with an easy peasy colorful game having no interesting ingame mechanics and so milk their money (and they are successful doing it).

ggg must not, it just needs to find enough players who like the challenging game and donate. and they're successful going their way.

for the bolded part: you really think you and the other 20-30 "always complainers" in the forum are a majority? sorry to dissapoint you. you may be the loudest and most visible but if all thousand players who like the game and it's random nature would post here that they do, no one could find your post.

in the 2 years of poe i played with alot of people and most of the guys which had a exceptional understanding of it's mechanics and game play and fun playing it had 0 (zero) forum posts. except some had bumps in the shops they run.

loot is boring. It can be fun... with increased drop rates.

a game which doesn't invalidate your gear and efforts on a quartlery basis by having an addon increase the level cap needs to be careful about it's economy.

i would have different solutions for this problem but i'm sure you don't like them.

1) have certain monsters steal items from your chest. this could come in the form of a competition where you have the chance to keep some of them.

2) have the "richest" 10 players enter a monthly competition where half of them have a good chance to lose their "whealth" in orbs.

3) have gear which isn't used regularily "degrade" (or corrode) over time by lowering it's propertie's values.

age and treachery will triumph over youth and skill!
If this will make you happy man i let you know thah i managed to read 3 or 4 quotes/responses then i vomited and stopped reading. Ill not reply you because i will not waste my time replying to whiteknights and GGG Overall Asslicking Taskforce (GGG.O.A.T.).
I just dont care - game is perfect, GGG is the best and Wilson is second Jesus Christ. No go away.

I have another wish for GGG developers - sooner they realize that listenitng to ppl like you is literally killing this game (or in most positive scenario make it incredibly stagnant) the better. But im afraid its too late.

cya and have fun in trading, rmting, managing shop or satisfy your gambling addiction... whatever you like to do in this game, because its not playing HnS game obviously. I will stick to real HnS games - not stock market simulators for wannabe armchair economist living in mother basements and streaming begging for money via internet (And then selling Atziri kills for real money with Chris Wilson blessing). cya.

BTW. My positive feedback is in my supperter packs (so gtfo from my post history - im not here to lick they asses and dismiss any ppl complaint and feedback - its job for ppl like you). Shame the money go to waste. At least Grim dawn developers are happy - they will get money that i reserved for next supporter packs.

PS. 'challenges'... buahahaha i cant stop laughing. Apparently trading for gear till your eyes bleed is 'challenge' in 2014. Srsly.. have fun. LOL.
