making the game easier only raises the bar for what players would rmt. if everyone has an advantage, no one has an advantage.

there will always be players from every point of progression that will inevitably use rmt and those same players must be harshly and swiftly dealt with though I would say the highest ranked players with excessive rmt would be a better target than the random individual who did it once or twice.

Making it so items are found more easily as a whole actually allows the game to be made harder due to a more predictable player power curve. When items are easier to find, players won't feel the need to RMT.

lets say a players overall power is a number from 0 to 100. 0 being a naked level 1 character and 100 being a level 90+ character with full bis gear capable of destroying content.

currently, lets say the average player can reach a rating of 60 and the game content requires 75 to be 'face-rolly'. if you raise the drop rate so the player average is now 70, the game's difficulty needs to be raised to 85 and the same situation exists of people still wanting more than whats required to clear content.

do this again and gain until the average player can get bis gear legitimate and quickly and the game is dead because there is nothing left to achieve.

There will always be scum who feel the need to rmt in order to be above the curve, no matter where you set the curve. if you want an easier game then simply nerf the content and leave the drop rates as is.

RMT will exist in some amount no matter how easy or hard the game is but it doesnt mean you cant take steps to punish offenders and discourage future ones.

And how many players have quit now due to not being able to find anything? A game that constantly expands it's arsenal of skills and uniques is a system that encourages making a poopton of characters. PoE, currently, does not support that option because of how impossible it is to "max" or even close to it, a single character. You'll just have a lot of relatively crappy characters.

How many people have RMT'd because they cannot find that Shavronne's or Kaoms because of an unrealistic drop rate? In D2 you could farm a boss for a certain numbers of hours and almost be guaranteed to get an item. It might take 200 hours, but you could rely on it. Finding anything in PoE is a complete and utter crap shoot.

The next argument is always "well, you don't need BiS to beat the game." Technically, you don't even need rares and I'm sure if your skill tree and playing skill was enough, you could do it with whites. Does that mean everyone should just use whites and quit bitching? No. ARPGs never are about beating the game. They are about character creation, customization, and mastery.

Finally, the fact that flipping items is 100x more profitable than farming for them is a key indication that something, somewhere in the system is broken. ARPGs have always required a player to do both. PoE requires you bring a character to 75 while hoarding loot, then flip for an eternity. It's ACTION RPG, not TRADING RPG. PoE is the latter.

Edit: In fact, to be more clear:
Things that should not be gated:
1) Build Enabling Uniques
2) Socket Links
3) Socket Colors
4) Socket Numbers

Things that should entirely be gated:
1) Raw stats

Essentially, players should be able to make any build, then upgrade that build to be stronger through raw stats. That is a system that feels less penalizing. "Oh, that guy is stronger because he has played longer" vs. "Oh, that build isn't even an option for me until I'm Rich."

I cant think of an arpg where farming was considerably more time efficient than shady trading.

Tell me what you think a build enabling unique is.
Tell me how many links the average player should need to feel strong.

I would not mind chromes being less of a crapshoot nor jewelers giving out 6 sockets a bit more consistently.

so tired of these baseless accusations just because you people don't know how to get rich in this game.

Because a 20ex Kaom is exactly the same thing as 300exalts on a low character like OP was talking about.
