Well they dont ban rmt users etc. deal with it. Trust me i ve been in MMO world long enough to realize how things work. GGG not banning rmts and wont be.
it is very very easy to track those ppl as admin, the first thing you need to have is 'wanting to ban those rmt noobs' which GGG havent got Squirrel is love, Squirrel is life.

while not recommending or advocating RMT i fail to see how it impacts my solo gameplay.
someone spends his dosh on items and then poses with them in global or poops exalts mirrors eternals so what ? i dont have to compete with them i cant and quite frankly i dont want to. these people buying selling dont play the real game they dont have a sense of achievement or "wow im glad i can do this map or that map now and this mod without any hassle or nice i found an alphas howl maybe i trade it away or start some character based around it!" they are killing their own fun. but if its just profit then so be it. there are many much better ways of making money such as prostitution , drugdealing to name a few.(dont do this kids is very bad mkay) i made around 1000€s in d3 with the RMAH over my whole time playing , i played a lot flipped here and there but you dont HAVE to in PoE , you dont have to participate in the grand scheme of tophighendgear. so you wont have that gear , and even without RMT if there was no way at all to do this. someone holding a perfectly rolled rarechest or weapon WONT let go of it. and you´d have to come up with something incredibly strong to trade for it. the way i see it , most people are simply filled with jealousy and want to have those kind of godly items with little to no effort put in. in my one and a half year or some like that of actively playing d3 iven´t looted or traded ONE godly item (given the fact that perfect rolls were pretty much impossible with d3s RNG But thats a different story). did it ruin my experience ? no did i make other people happy with selling stuff for real money when they come home from work and want to blast some monsters with piss without having to grind 3months to buy one item ? i sure did. See RMT goes both ways , a kid finds a mirror aged 15. He shits himself , asks around prolly trades for uberammount of exalts or sells it to a chinaman. Imagine how happy you´d be as a kid with that kind of money while still going to school. There are many negative and positive aspects of RMT and while GGG is not encouraging it and "implies" to be strictly against it the droprates of actually GOOD items are against that very mindset. All these items , and currency are only valued so highly because the droprates are really really terrible. i´ve found 2 exalted orbs thus far , im playing daily a few hours here and there over a month now. so where do the other trillion exalted orbs come from ? surely not from legit players thus Botting is very rampant - as an implication on the side. Therefore the playercount of Path of Exile is MUCH MUCH MUCH lower then people assume it is. If i see the 4-5-6 same names in global almost every day no matter which channel i go. IF i see around 5-10 people in a3merc diff instances sometimes none at all from the early morning to late evening then i can safely assume that the LEGIT playerbase is far from flourishing. I´d go as far as to claim that PoE is in a critical state of dying. See we were promised around 10 acts. its over almost 2-3years now and still no act4 5 ? Because Santa backpack is more important ? Or one skill every week-2weeks and a handful of lowlvluniques then maybe 1-2 higher lvl ones which are really sad and not actually "wow i want that !" inducing ? This post is by no means a hateful post , i like the game its very enjoyeable now and then but desync is antifun , araku tiki in highlvl maps and dominus amongst others is not something i want to see when "working" on my character. Post getting too long so ye , RMT is indeed "killing" the economy and driving powergamers away which want to compete in trading or whatever. HOWEVER if you are halfway mature you are not suffering from RMT nor influenced by it in anyway. There are plenty items in tradechat on the forums and on the ground which make you more then strong for endgame. One last thing - what if GGGs developerteam is in need of RMT and they get a cut from this and that? think about it - we will never know and i dont want to light a fire but at least Blizzard was honest about pay2win - GGG likes to deny that RMT is rampant in their game which is incredibly wrong. |

Personally I think the best way to combat RMT is to do a sting operation. GGG would set up multiple RMT sites and after they receive payment and that RMTer comes to collect, have them get caught and ban them.
This works doubly well considering GGG would still be getting cash from the people they ban. A lot of it. Bullshit, you get the game for free.
