My computer started crashing only while playing POE

Well... I went through a lot past few days to get PoE working and... I won!!!!!
- I had 2 different sound cards (internal and from videocard HDMI). Disabled everything and started with --nosound, still crashes. - I bought a power consumption meter and plugged my pc through that. The normal power consumption seems to be around 70-80 watts, when it goes spike with PoE, it goes just above 100 Watt and then the pc freezes... This wattage may be a bit different from internal usage, but 100 watt is not nearly 350 watt. So unless someone has some really convincing arguments, I won't be replacing my pc's power supply. - I used serveral tools to monitor my videocard. The one that really helped solving the problem was: GPU-Z. It shows realtime the clock speed/temperature etc etc of the card as a graph. It seems that when my GPU Core Clock goes max for let's say 10-20 seconds, the pc freezes. (Temporary?) Solution for me: - Put GPU-Z on second screen. - Run PoE FULLSCREEN! (not fullscreen windowed, this always crashes!!!) - In the logon screen, the GPU usage is almost the same as in game, but it doesn't crash there so fast, so adjust there in settings. - Find the highest resolution that will put the clock speed at around half of the meter in GPU-Z. - It seems all other graphical options don't affect visually noticable the GPU Core Clock, so those are still maxed. Today I finally could play again. I hate to not play fullscreen windowed, because now every time I need to look up something I need to ALT-TAB out of PoE to go read up, but it's still better than a serious system crash after 5 minutes of playing (or even earlier). |

Wow... I didn't give up yet and I'm glad. It seems PoE can generate extreme high fps. My monitor only supports 60, so there's no need for 300 fps or what so ever. I installed MSI afterburner, in that I can limit the fps to 60. After this I can run PoE fullscreen windowed with no problems whatsoever :)))))

Got happy too early. PoE still crashes. MSI afterburner shows everything works perfect on my GPU (max 50% usage, temp 40 degrees, fan speed max 40%, fps 60 etc...), but PoE still makes my pc crash.
I really liked this game, but these serious pc crashes make me have to quit this game. I am a computer programmer irl, but I probably won't be able to find a way to play this game other than throw away my new videocard and place my old one back, which I am not going to do :(( |

anyone find an actual fix for this yet? ive tried everything here(that i understand) im not spending money on a sound card (thats what everyone blames it on) to see if it will work, when this hasnt helped others. this issue seems to be ignored simply because the way they decided to make POE and its an issue with the game(from what ive read and was told). at least half the people ive talked to that have even heard of this game have quit because of this. aside from this multiple year long issue best game this click style ive played

" You really should create your own post if you want support. This thread is already quite long and diluted to the point that it's hard to even imagine what the actual issue is at this point and whether or not your problem is at all related to this problem. PC crashes can be caused by a LOT of things. Not all of those things are necessarily related to the original post (or poster). So that we can better assist you, could you please create your own thread and be clear and descriptive with what your actual problem is. Include all symptoms and error messages, including errors related to Path of Exile or around the time of the crash from the Windows Event logs. Then we can better assist you based on YOUR actual problem and not what you think might be vaguely related just because the PC crashes. Please refer to the "rules" sticky post for more information. |

Same thing happening to me. More or less. My computer freezes or more often just blinks off, then I have to do a hard reboot to get it back again. Sometimes it flickers black then recovers, sometimes it doesn't. Most often it does this when looking at the Passive Skill Tree. It also seems to be more frequent when I've descended into level 2 of the Vaal Ruins. Creating a new thread as well.

I'm running into the same issues as the OP. Never had issues with my PC before, but now the system crashes while running anything from Skyrim to Civ V. Path of Exile broke my computer. I'm pissed.

It is not possible for PoE to "break" your computer. Correlation vs causation.

Using steam going into loading screen I keep my normal mouse curser and after that... nothing cant alt tab just screen stays frozen in there alt F4 wont work and ctrl alt del only option is signing off since then it will close all programs taskbar I cant use because I cant get rid of startup screen of poe where it says login and such So I am wondering if its the loading screen or steam or something that causes this This is happening since last patch and no new programs or updates on my pc Hope I can get some way to solve this |
