Hello. I have same problem as you guys have. When I go play I got blue screen. Few days ago I did clean Windows 7 install. Before clean install I had 2x AMD 6970 cards now I have R9 290 card all other component are same. I have Creative sound card and I am using same drivers than before.

I am using Beta catalyst 14.1 drivers for my R9 290 card and I thought that was problem and I installed 13.12 drivers but that didnt help. So I uninstalled sound card drivers and that helped for me.

Also I linked my account to Steam. Before when I didnt have problem game wasnt linked.

Also I can play game like Battlefield 4 no problem with sound card drivers and 14.1 drivers.

You forgot -swa or --softwareaudio ... common problem with Creative Cards and BSOD.

What do you mean by that?
I did install only drivers nothing else like I had before clean install.

Try adding switches to your PoE command line
For Standalone Client on 32-bit systems

  • Right-click on your PoE shortcut.
  • Click "Properties".
  • On the "Shortcut" tab, change the "Target:" field to:

"C:\Program Files\Grinding Gear Games\Path of Exile\PathOfExile.exe" -gc 2 -swa

For Standalone Client on 64-bit systems

  • Right-click on your PoE shortcut.
  • Click "Properties".
  • On the "Shortcut" tab, change the "Target:" field to:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Grinding Gear Games\Path of Exile\PathOfExile.exe" -gc 2 -swa

For Steam users

Add -gc 2 -swa to your Launch Options.

Some BLUE-SOD's occured many times.

I DID:
1. tried to put more RAM, remove my old one, s**t happens
2. Brand new graphics card (checked)
3. newest drivers for GPU - tried older ones - nothing changed
4. format C: and reinstal.
5. changed all the GPU and in-game graphics options several times

Observed:
1. BSODs occure after 5-10 min ingame
2. did NOT occure when stayin' in city, using stash (some people have bsod there)
3. party or not - bsods occure
4. there is a place - fetid pools - (cruel) - it happens EVERYTIME (like there is a boss or monster my comupter dont wanna see - wtf)
(i thought there is a file corrupted - reinstaled - didnt helped)
5. too many spells casted/attacks and s**t don't cause lags/bsods.
6. proper temperature

Sometimes i can play like 2 hours and nothing happens.
Sometimes a several minutes / or till i come to fetid pools (i dont know about other specifed locations causing bsod).

I study informatics and i know something about graphics.
In my opinion there are 3D objects which cant be remade as 2D.
so GPU has a INFINITE LOOP or try to DIVIDE by 0.

BSOD info:
UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP
0x0000007f
4 x parameters: 0x00000000

That is a kernel error, and has nothing to do with Path Of Exile. Most likely some part of your computer is malfunctioning, my guess due to overheating or overclocking.
HAIL SATAN!

(a CC of this post has been emailed to: support@grindinggear.com)

I have been having the same issue with my system.

Problem Description:
PoE crashes randomly during gameplay (5 mins - 30 mins into game play). When this happens, the screen goes black, followed by audio feedback in my earphones and then a complete system reboot.

My Computer Specs:
OS: Windows 8.1 64 bit
Soundcard: Creative Labs 70SB155000001
Videocard: Sapphire Radeon R9 290 4GB
Ram: 16 gigs

- All drivers are 100% up to date.
- Windows 8.1 is 100% up to date.
- Problem doesn't happen in any other program (Only crashes in PoE).
- Nothing is overclocked in my system.
- CPU never goes over 38°C (even playing Skyrim at Max settings)
- SYS never goes over 39°C
- HDD never goes over 32°C (The only drive in my system is a 1 gig SSD)

This has ONLY happened since the last patch, before that I could play PoE for 6-8 hours and never have a single problem.

PLEASE FIX THIS PROBLEM - It seems as though it is happening to hundreds of people only since the last patch - at this point PoE is completely unplayable for me because of the reboots.

Thanks!
So like the above posts, the game JUST crashed my computer, in the middle of a map... on invasion... and I ripped. It had crashed once before right after this patch, I don't know what it did, but my system isn't stable playing it after a certain amount of time.

I'm not so inclined to play anymore, very annoyed that it was completely out of my control. Pretty sure it will happen again.

I'll try sending in a ticket, will it do any good?
YOU NEED TO IDENTIFY THE PROBLEM YOURSELF BY ANALYSING THE BSOD, for example with BSOD view. It will tell you exactly why your BSOD occurs. You can then search the internet for the error and find the solution.

http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/bluescreenview.html

OR AT LEAST: Provide GGG with the error that you found by analyzing the BSOD

I got an email reply from them this morning, they said there is a problem with the type of soundcard I am using (from the post above) and it isn't compatible with the game, apparently it is a wide assortment of soundcards that are causing this crash to occur.
