It seems I won't be able to keep up my previous pace of post spam
Since this thread is up I may as well post my thoughts (while being respectful)

Trying to assign your own thoughts on Scrotie's life is a waste of time. Only he knows the truth. What he chooses to share with us or not is completely up to him.
If you don't wish to support him, fine. Just don't waste space pointing a finger at what you have no idea about. Wish to support him? Great. Charity is always freely given without strings. My personal opinion is for him to go to a temp agency and take what he can get. I have gone through this myself. Once had to walk five miles to work because I could not afford a car and in my rural area, there is no bus service that time of morning. I took a job I normally would have pasted up, but it paid my bills and got me out of debt. That I had to start walking at 3:30 in the morning, no matter what the weather was like was just something I had to deal with. Much later, I was working for a large publishing company that was closed and moved south by greedy owners. I took minimum wage, low hour jobs to keep my house. I also accepted charity from others. Now I have the very well paying job and I am helping the same people that helped me in my time of need now that they are in need. (Side note: While working a minimum wage job at a store that sold staples among other items, the district VP came to our store and told me to go buy new pants because he didn't like mine. I told him to take his six figure salary and $50k car and go and buy me some new ones if he didn't like them. I finished by pointing out I could walk across the street and get a job at McDonald's that paid more, so go fuck yourself. I was not fired, but he left steaming. I ended up getting a much better paying job three weeks later. There is a power in knowing that at minimum wage, you can literally go anywhere and make the same money.) |

Hah! Great way of looking at minimum wage! :D
That'd be my advise to Scrotie, too. Did it myself not too long ago. Take what you can get to get those bills paid, look out for a better paid job or other legal way of getting the dosh in. Btw.: I didn't know there was something like that in (presumably) the states. Here in Germany opponents of minimum wage treat it as though it was something evil. How much IS minimum wage there? Currently a whopping $7.75(us) in my state. Lower elsewhere. People at the bottom of the wage scale now pay more than ever for their needs and it hurts the economy. People with little money, tend to spend locally and that helps the local economy. Rich people tend to horde heir cash and buy expensive things that help only those that make those things.
When I was selling cars (hated it!) I had a customer buying a fleet of cars for his company. They would go to rich people's homes and inventory their belongings because when you have six houses and only spend time to two of them, you lose track of what you bought. I don't hate the rich (want to be one of them someday), but crying about paying taxes when you just bought another house you will never visit, another car you will never drive and another yacht you will never use, I will not have any sympathy. |

" This shit cracks me up every time I hear it. Lowest paid job, oh dear. I live in a different country, post soviet, almost 8 bucks per hour is about 150% of average salary here. I used to work as a production supervisor with massive responsibilities and required qualifications and I never got even CLOSE to 8 bucks per hour. On top of that average gas price is TWICE the US price, majority of goods are 20-30% more expensive than in the US and somehow people think of it as normal. When I hear americans talking about striving on their minimum wage jobs I just laugh my ass off. Be ready. You're not paranoid, you're PREPARED.

" Understand that regional effects matter. I make very good money for the area I live in. Move three hours south and I am a bottom dweller. My home is worth a little. Move it three towns down and I could never afford it. What our minimum wage is, is a joke. Prices are through the roof. Your gas costs more, but you get healthcare for those taxes. Here, the gas is high enough and minimum wage jobs tend to be very limited hours to avoid paying benefits like healthcare. Higher education is really out of reach for most now. Why? Wages has stagnated while those at the top have gain by the thousandfold. You can survive on it if you give up many of life's opportunities. But realize this. Paying people so little while driving away in the company paid for luxury sedan is not going to inspire the people that really make the goods to work harder, have pride in their work or have any loyalty to the company that has no loyalty to them. Money is not the only answer. But fairness is. The top no longer feel part of the equation. That is never a good thing. I have worked for millionaires that connected with their employees and I worked my ass for them. I was very sad when they finally retired and sold the business. The new company shit all over us and I was the first to leave. It took only a short two years before that company was out of business. Unable to hire and keep any decent employees because they only cared about their bonuses. So laugh away. Life here is life here. You have your own problems and good luck with that. |

" Aaah, see what you did there, funny, FUNNY! Apart from the fact that if you want to get cured instead of getting the paper that you're sick you got to bribe hard bro. This or private healthcare. Free. Haahahah. " Yes, there's plenty of free education in my region. Education that gives you qualifications for mopping floors. If you want to get a useful and free degree you gotta be really good at it because that type of education has severely limited free slots. Otherwise you pay a few years worth of your total salary. " That's um, I don't even. I assume that was a reply to somebody else about something else. " Yep, we're both better of than somalians I guess but I don't see them somalians whining online that they can't get a new car. I keep to myself on that regard as well but from time to time an american needs to share the tragedy of his life which is a dream to some. Be ready. You're not paranoid, you're PREPARED.

Its not just an American problem. We lead the world in shipping out our jobs to countries that pay squat so the board of directors can give themselves another raise, but we not the only one. The problem is that the disconnect from the top to the rest is now a global problem. Super rich Americans are leaving the country to avoid paying taxes, not sure how it's going in other countries.
But I read more of a I hate America in your argument than anything. Go right ahead and hate us. I could try to care less, but I'm not going to. We have faults and we have strengths. Don't like it? Don't move here. |

" Nice post Moon. On occasion, I will print a few prints up, take my harmonicas out and set up a ninja shop in some area. I sit and play blues and sell prints until: A) The cops run me off 2) I sell out of prints 3) I get tired. Twenty bucks a print or tips for the music. It has actually supplemented my income enough in past situations to get me by in some rough times. I still do it for extra cash and for fun. If you got anything, poems, stories whatever...drawings? Take them out and sell them. Christmas is here and people are in the spirit of giving, so take advantage. If you have something (of real quality) to offer that you made, people respond so much better. Like," This guy is getting off his ass and trying something, and has something to offer that is actually cool. Makes everyone feel better about the situation. One night I sold 30 prints at $20 a pop and got over $200 in tips for playing blues. Walked home with over $800 in my pocket that night. Yes there are ways to survive and still keep your dignity intact. ScrotieMcB, I would delete all games from my comp until I got my head and life together. Exactly what I did after the big D. Games are designed to be addictive and when you add the social element it becomes even harder to walk away. I was playing WoW 16 hours a day at one point. Pretty fuckin sad. Good luck! I would donate if I could justify it, meaning I can't afford it now. www.jeffbradleyphotography.com

Ten_of_Swords - $150
total thus far - $445 I'd rather not make this thread overtly political. The only thing I'm going to say on it is, in my specific case, no government program based on compulsory taxpayer support is needed, because a system of voluntary support works... and that I feel a lot better ethically getting help from the willing than from the forced. Whether we can or cannot expect fully voluntary charity systems to sufficiently handle various social problems on a macro scale is a discussion for another thread. @Silocibe: Does putting one's comp in storage accomplish roughly the same effect? If so, done. All posts in past 48 have been Android phone. When Stephen Colbert was killed by HYDRA's Project Insight in 2014, the comedy world lost a hero. Since his life model decoy isn't up to the task, please do not mistake my performance as political discussion. I'm just doing what Steve would have wanted.
