In before BMBI.

This is a bit off topic.....

Out of curiousity, what branch? Mos?

I was in the Army, 82nd ABN, 1-504th PIR for around 5 years myself.

If it makes you feel better if I had a time machine, sometimes I wish I could go back and stay in. The job sucks, but I do miss the people.

If so then apparently I ought to abandon any hope of having a genuine discourse in the offtopic forums and you might want to stick to your usual gibberish in this subforum. I talk about one issue and you respond about something entirely different. I describe how baffling it is to me that certain level of life is a tragedy to one and quite nice to other and you're circling around on the border of going full karl marx on me and clash of the classes.

On a side note though to end this offtopic, just FYI I sometimes think I care about the US and your constitution more than many, many of your people and if I got the choice I'd rather been born there than where I actually was.

PS. If you don't like american companiesh shipping jobs overseas don't shop at Walmart. Buy US made products only, some manufacturers are starting to realize that made in USA sticker gives more long term revenue than a low price sticker and they're gradually coming back.
Be ready. You're not paranoid, you're PREPARED.

I quit this game every few months and so should you to continue playing it in the future.

JG, if you want to argue. Make another thread. I will be happy to. But this is not the thread for it.

you don't have to keep track of who donated what, and post grand totals Scrotie.

what's important is you get enough to not end up on the street, so you have somewhat of a platform to get your life back together.

lethal_papercut was extremely blunt, but I agree with what he tried to say: real life is more important than any game, including PoE.
your first - heck your only - priority right now, should be taking care of things - not going back to game and forum.

Just to clarify something, my current activities right now are getting my car up and running again (thanks for the help), selling stuff on CL, and securing a place to live. Lots of bus rides, lots of waiting... therefore plenty of time to type away on my phone.

No argument about the actual game part. Too much running around for that.

Unemployment sucks, you have my sympathy.
Wish you well man. Hope things pick up between you and your kids again.

I wish you the best of luck with your situation, Scrotie, I'm sure you'll find a way through it all being as resourceful as you are!

Who knows, maybe being deprived of your supressants gives you the breathing space you need to find your balance again. That is at least the way it works for me.

EDIT:

I don't know if it is any help, but i have also had some rough periods of my life where i felt my energy draining to every little thing around me, and where forums and games consumed what little time i should be using on taking care of the things i should have been taking care of as well as keeping me up till point where i had already started using the second day and so always was behind and out of sync with the world.

What really helped me the most was to focus on my daily habits. Really focusing on getting the things done i needed, because i felt bad about not doing right, even simple things such as eating on time, not staying up too late, getting some physical excercise, being outside and also simply breathing. By doing that i tried to remove the sources of what i felt bad about, and those feelings of feeling bad about something past you cannot change drains your energy so that it is harder to break out of the habit.

Correct deep breathing, inhaling deeply, exhaling completely can bring a breath of fresh air into your veins with renewing energies(that + food really is almost the entire source of your energy) as well as cleanse toxins from within as you exhale. Breathing is known to clear depression. I went to the mountains in France for a few months alone, although i made the mistake of bringing an ancient laptop that i ended up playing wow on, but still, that break and getting outside my usual sphere was really helpful, a welcome change.

Sometimes when caught up in a negative pattern we really need change, after all, what do we have to lose?

@Crackmonster: Good points. That and simply getting out of the house more. :) I ran out of "things to do" today just after the time for intake where I'm planning to go, and I didn't want to be home so I went for a walk. A pretty long walk, it turns out. I think it helped a lot. Came back and found a listing for a *dream* job I'm actually qualified for, although I couldn't complete the app because I've lost my DD214 (official form for US military discharges). Need to get that paper...

During same walk, I've come up with a seriously strong idea for an online-only RTS/MOBA game (by which I mean hybrid, sort of like Warcraft 3). Not going to share it here (it'd probably just get stolen) but I'll just say it adds a lot of depth to stealth and recon, increases risk/reward of naked aggression, and makes diplomacy important and engaging. Lorewise it would draw heavily on the Crusades, the Inquisition, and the occult, treading between the darkest truths of historical realism and the fantasy of "deals with the devil" made real. I've been thinking about it for a while and believe at the least it would fill a particular "I like this genre but I'm a thinking man" niche, kind of like Natural Selection 2 does with FPS. I've actually tried the indie game thing before and all that came of it was tons of wasted time with people who didn't really know what they were doing. As a game designer, where would I find a good programming team? Or do I just try to sell the idea to a more established studio, and if so how would that work? Is it smarter to start small on a game I give less of a fuck about to build some kind of resume? Lots of research to do, and given my priorities essentially no time to do it.
