Duelist edition ;)
I made a guide on 1.2 skilltree for life based crit dagger shadow. I use reave as main skill as well. The tree is essentially the same for ranger class, except your 1st starting node is different. If you are interested you can check it out here: http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/994474

Hi guys, long time no post. I haven't been playing recently but I'll be back on 1.2.
I'm just looking at the new tree and trying to work out the best way to build.

It seems harder to get all the dps/block/hp now. The top half of the tree is very ES heavy and bad pathing for non-spell builds.
There's less available block (a cluster has been moved to the Witch area).
The other side of the tree has added attack crit nodes and better life % nodes. The Scion life wheel is now crazy good.

There's a tree I marked out earlier traveling to the other side of the tree, just noting good nodes for the build. It's obviously way too many points but with some trimming I think it can work.

My current level 92 Ranger has 230% life, with two 8% nodes near by. With the changes to base life being 12 instead of 8 we need around 160-170% life to get 5k life in 1.2. Belly of the Beat is also an amazing option now unless it gets nerfed.

The tree I linked has total 515% increased crit chance on tree. The old tree has 445% (if you get the extra Shadow 20% node). However, the dagger crit nodes also provide valuable base dps and dagger related buffs (Adder's Touch)

So basically, the tree I linked is way too many points but we also have more crit and effective life than before, so it can be toned down.

Please post your input, I'll be checking back regularly now and would be good to see if we can get this working together. Can any of you make it work in just the Ranger/Shadow tree like before?

EDIT: Here's the tree candoerfer posted above so you can compare.

EDIT2: modified it to be closer to how I'd build. Ranger/Shadow can work, just seems a lot harder to get the life%.

Hey Oos, nice to see you back ^^.

I personally think that investing points into Fencing and the crit nodes near Assassination is more efficient than branching out to True Strike and Harrier to the left, since you won't waste any points on stats this way. You will loose out a bit on life, but those 4% nodes are really weak anyway.

For the duelist fans:

I heavily revised the tree. I noticed that it does not make sense to force your way through the ranger area in order to minimze the changes to the pre patch tree. Ranger life nodes got heavily nerfed and scion/ duelist are now king (again). This build has 178% life and will result in similar life values to pre patch situation. It sacrifices some dps, but this is the smallest problem in dagger builds imo (the crit loss hurts a bit though).

For some reason it wont let me edit the tree you linked but you can save 2 points here.

Good work, you nailed the rest of the pathing. You missed Nightstalker though.

Missed 2 pretty obvious things, thanks!

Why do you skip all the accuracy nodes? I think they're very good for a crit build, in general people underrate them imo. Especially now, since one of them also offers crit chance with additional accuracy.

Yeah accuracy is very under-rated. I try not to plan my trees around it though because it;s easier to compare raw hp/block/crit/phys numbers. But yeah, accuracy is very good, that 20% node at Ranger start is used to be all you needed, but the new nodes look very tasty.

OK time to compare all the trees. I'll try and get them as close to 100 points as possible so we can compare better.

Hopefully all these links work.

So, it looks like the ComradeSerge's pathing + Fencing build is the most efficient for general play. What would you change on that build, if anything?

Ondar's Guille is 2 points now instead of 4 on the old tree, so that's worth adding now for sure.

and candoerfer tree skips Ranger is probably best for a more tanky IR character. higher hp, less damage, access to Vaal Pact + IR. Might have a stun problem though because of no Heart of the Oak or US.

edit:
Since the tree has been released I've been working out different builds on it an noting them in a google doc. Some of you may find it helpful if you're looking for something to play next league:
