[Stream]First Impression - Bored
I couldnt disagree more with this thread, I see what the OP is saying and its totally fine that this is his opinion of course.
I currently have 7 characters, my main character is a 27 Ranger - I have 7 skills which all get constant use and most of which have various support gems in them, to augment them. This character is currently in Hardcore 2nd Difficulty just done the first boss/sub-boss and I can honestly say I love the game and its may start off easy and 'Just spam this button here' but later game if you do that you die pretty quick. You guys also got to realize its his first impression.. not all first impressions are always good. Some people expect games to come out differently and aren't shown that well, others think they are amazing, same w/ movies. It was his opinion, no need to bash on him for that.
He honestly took time in what he was saying and made some key points, +1 to OP Plus its constructive criticism , which is what they wanted, they wanted opinions and to have it straight, thought I honestly doubt i'd agree with some of the things listed, i dont wanna shoot him for it lol. Round 2 - Impression
I've now leveled a couple characters past level 30 in Hardcore, currently playing a Ranger that's 36. You really start to feel the strain once you get to "Ruthless". The game is incredibly gear dependent, trying to find that perfect 2-4 socket linked normal item so you can boost it with whetstones or armor mods, then turn it into a rare and hope for good stats(then change it back to a normal and try again if not), only problem is you have a hell of a hard time finding these "item mods". With that being said, it only gets worse with melee. Good luck trying to find a bow, sword, axe, etc that has 3+ linked sockets of the color(s) you want and has damage that isn't on par with the starting weapon you get to smack that first zombie with, its like finding the secret cow level in PoE. Furthermore it gets worse for melee. Ruthless onward, you won't be standing next to hordes of monsters and attacking, because even when you spec HP/energy shield/block, have tons of armor and resistances, they will still put your face into the ground and pass you off to Soft-core. Energy shield is decent, but once its gone, you might as well be naked. Don't even get me started on evasion. If you play beta, play a Templar/witch and use spell damage, its the only viable build that wont make it feel like you just killed a raid boss when you attack your first normal monster in ruthless+. The pace of play gets slower, the passive abilities need major tweaking, lots of skills make 0 since, like the mana leech gem(1% of 100 damage @ level 3, when most skills cost 10-20 mana for a melee based class) Don't get me wrong there is a lot of fun things about the game, but prepare to die, a lot, and spend hours upon years to make decent gear(unless you can buy it from the store) | |
Im sick from reading this.
If you want a game that will instant gratify you on every step and a game when you can buy best gear 5 minutes after character creation with your fathers mastercard ill suggest sticking to Diablo 3. Most of this trashtalk is discussed to death on Closed Beta forums. Most of this things are acknowledged by developers long time ago and we waiting to patch and fixes and balancing. And last but not least most of the things you describe are numeric balance things that are not the most concern on this stage of Beta Testing. What is purpose of this thread? Its Beta feedback? You are not even a invited tester. Bashing a game that is in very early beta because its lack 2/3 of content that will be introduced in next 3-4 months of testing and its "boring" because of that? This is EARLY BETA. VERY EARLY BETA. The point of playing now its not to entertain you. And why you make that statements like i quote below now? When game isnt even finished in 50% and its not balanced at all? "Don't get me wrong there is a lot of fun things about the game, but prepare to die, a lot, and spend hours upon years to make decent gear(unless you can buy it from the store)" WTF? Srly drop this or get back to whatever D3 fansite you comin from because im pretty sure you are from one. And who gives this guy beta access? Its violation of GGG rules i think. Im not a guy that will forbid someone to show the game to friend but if it will result with thrashtalk and bashing the game without any fukin clue whats goin on in beta and what purposes this beta test serve for now ill suggest stop sharing beta accounts with spoiled childrens. Or maybe wait couple of months and give us your great "reviews" when the game will be finished. Last edited by Kabraxis on Sep 4, 2011, 8:08:31 PM

I actually can really see where he's coming from tbh.
You could give melee weapons 2x the damage they do now and you would still be better off using an AOE spell. Last edited by TemptedNZ on Sep 4, 2011, 8:53:14 PM

Since Beros wasn't invited to the beta, he might not have read the rules in the invite message. In that case, here are the ones he's probably breaking:
"Please do not share your account." "Please do not go into detail about unannounced specifics or unfinished systems." "Please do not reveal unannounced information or comment on how things in the Beta work." Closed Beta/Alpha Tester back after a 10-year hiatus.

I really don't think this belongs in general discussion.

" Next time make sure you post it all, and not just bits and pieces that are convenient. - You're welcome to post your general opinions on the game. Please do not go into detail about unannounced specifics or unfinished systems. "We intend to openly discuss our plans for these systems so that we can get quality feedback." It's my feedback, also, by your take on the rules, everyone that streams, or talks about beta is breaking the ToA (since the game is unfinished). It's just my current take on the state of the game(my general opinion), from playing it, watching streams, and reading posts. |
