I understand the point of a beta, yes its not a finished product, but it is suppose to be close to one,

To be more exact, this is closed beta, just out of alpha. Most real alphas are just frameworks with placeholder art...

POE's alpha was further than that, but their closed beta is closer to what 'closed betas' used to be, like 15 years ago...

It is not a beta as you are defining it, and furthermore it's in a closed beta stage. Furthermore, real beta's are FAR away from complete... any reasonably complete game is more accurately called an RC (release candidate,) which is what you have been describing.

Understood, most large gaming companies Open Beta is basically the finished game, and more for marketing and hooking players to buy it post beta. Closed Beta's generally have the core components furnished though.

Contemporary ones do... but historically this isn't the case. They should have most core functionality in to play the game, however they will still lack possibly most content. Although this somewhat depends on your definition of core components.

Diablo 2 is indeed not a perfect game. But it did give gamers hundreds of hours of fun. That to me is Priceless.

Agreed.
Along with a host of other "seasoned" games.
Sweet, makes me want to play it even more!
tbh Im surprised they would spend 4 years for a game thats f2p... Quite impressing actually though.
I'm still stuck on the fact that no one has addressed that he's using a beta account that's not his.
Closed Beta/Alpha Tester back after a 10-year hiatus.

I noticed that too. Breaking Terms of Service is Breaking Terms of Service.

About the game being repetitive, I am a bit worried about that, but it's also a lot of HOW you play the game. You can choose if you socket and create a single uber spell, or create a lot of niche/survival spells.

My biggest concern about the replayability of the game is the mob AI and different mob behaviors. Currently, I've only really seen swarmers, ranged units, and a few slower heavy hitters. I know they're working on more mobs, so I hope this will be alleviated. Spell spamming or not isn't as much a deal as fighting repetitive mobs for creating a boring experience. Creating situations in which the player MUST react in different ways will keep gameplay engaging.

His songs are stronger songs, and his feet are faster.
The sense I get from all of the information I've seen leads me to believe that it isn't the intention of GGG to provide a deep single player game. Other games can provide that experience. With the Cut-Throat and Hard-Core leagues, we will be providing the challenges for ourselves and others in GGG's sandlot. Beta is beta and I fully expect that as it progresses and more content and systems are added and refined this will become more clear and less of a bore to some people ;)

If you really want a 'special' experience, you probably should climb a mountain or something?
Every game has its own concept be it FPS, strategy or RPG. The best games are usually simple in concept but perfect in execution or almost perfect =)

I have climbed mountains actually :)
