My thoughts on 1.0 details! .... Oh wait, there are no details.

This is quite the interesting thread.

I joined POE community back in March of 2012 and fell in love with this game. During close beta, I remember that GGG was constantly updating the community on what they were doing. There was A LOT of feedback going around. It was not uncommon to see staff response from players that made threads discussing what they liked and didn't like about the game. They took all feed back to heart. There were also interviews every once in a while which I loved. Also build of the week and Chris hopping on Krips stream were awesome as well.

After Open Beta it all changed. At first they promised a lot of updates and 1 skill per week(which I thought was ludicrous!), but over time GGG grew silent. Sure they have kept doing fantastic work and releasing regular game updates, but at a much lower rate than before.

Unlike others, I do not think that it is because of lack of updates/info regarding the future, in fact these guys never sleep so they could easily keep updating us regularly if they felt the need. No, I think that they were somewhat sad that a lot of the awesome content originally planned for Open Beta had to get pushed back. I have almost gotten the sense that the lack of updates/info regarding the final release in October is because they sat down and got down to business. There is a lot of content and features that they want to release if this is going to be the great game they want to make. They do not have time to be constantly chatting with us. They have a responsibility to this community and they mean to keep it. I have a lot of expectation from them. And I know for a fact that I will not be let down.

Calling it:

-At least four new areas in Act3
-New Final Dungeon and Boss
-Reworked PvP system and arenas
-Passive Skill Reset for Everyone
-Significant changes to the skill tree/skills/balance
-New Skills
-Merveil reworked
-New areas/changed areas in Acts 1 and 2
-New 3D armor art and models like they did with helms
-New monsters
-Implementation of the new trading system
-New endgame content besides Maps
-Secret Level(Wraeclast Cows: Rhoas!)
-New Leagues
-Game tutorial text for new players
-Uniques, uniques, and uniques!
-A lot more stuff that I cannot see coming!
-A lot, lot more

Will everything make it? It is possible that it won't. But why are they keeping quiet? If I know once thing for certain having lurked for forums for over a year is that Chris is one teasing bastard =P

Rocktober!

If they implement half of what you said, I think my social life is going to take a major hit........
I think yall miss the point the OP was making... if your going to release information tell us when/where. If not then say that you are not going to release information. If your the head of a company/lead developer and you dont know the answer then dont speak up and say you dont know... it makes you look bad... sorry Chris... it does... its better to hold your tongue and get firm answer before you talk to people.

What the original poster wants is for GGG to not tease in the way that they are.. their teasers are kinda lackluster and are more confusing than anticipation building. If you dont want to tell people then say "We dont want to say anything till XYZ date.." Promising to be open and transparent and then quickly switching to being opaque without stating why makes you look bad.

I think I understand a lot of what GGG is going through... at first as a small game its easy to get in and mingle with the player base and be very vocal about things.. but then you start realizing that they start holding you accountable for what you say. If you tell people patch will be x date and then it gets delayed it makes you look bad. Its better to not say anything at all and surprise people than to say something and disappoint them later.

Personally.. Im a big supporter. I wish I could buy an Eternal package before OB ends and we go Final release but alas that doesnt seem like its going to happen. Im trying to spread the word about PoE at college and shirts would go along way to help that (looking at Jinx as here it is September and still nothing >.< ) and Im going to look into turning those stickers into car magnets. Maybe if I had codes for free in game MT to give away *wink wink*...

I expect to see notes and teasers a week or 2 before release. Other than that I go on my merry way and unless I read it on Reddit from Chris (which is always before the forums) I tend to ignore it.
Crafting doesn't exist in POE. Gambling does...and the house always wins.

Velocireptile - I LOL'ed. Which made me fart. I wish the office were empty right now :(

Hardlicker - I had to push the dog out of the way so I could get to the sexy quilt.

They have six weeks. That's a long time. In dog years that's almost a year.

A "dog's year" is 365 days, just like ours. We share the same orbit bro.
Perhaps you don't understand the word "year".

Dogs age about the equivalent of 18 human years in the first calendar year, and then they age about 4 human years per calendar year after that. Not in straight lines, but more of a curve.

People just round these out overall and say seven. But this is very inaccurate.

Refer to my sig.

They better deliver.

It better not just be the rest of act 3 ZzZzZz
The rest of the 'end-game' content will be available along with a heap of new stuff when the game launches in a few months time. From what I've seen it's going to be awesome. - Michael_GGG

A "year" is the time it takes to complete an orbit of our local star (Sol). Dogs age how they age, your nonsense is bullshit. I'm enjoying life on Sol 3, how about you?
Another thread.

6 weeks from launch is NOT a long time, most developers have details to share (actual details) months prior. Just saying.

And how many of their games had fully working free-to-play open-to-all betas with all existing game content thus far? Just...saying.

who cares?

it is GGG that decided to release their game as open-beta. this means jack shit if it is called open-beta or full-release. these are the times. it is available - it is released. games get ONE release per lifecycle

beta:it.is.just.a.name

POE had been released in the winter 2013. re-release in October (esp if desync is not fixed) will not bring many people back and wont keep many others with the game. all who wanted to play POE already have tried it/heard of it. maybe they are still playing it, maybe they ragequit after bullshit desync issue or maybe they got bored with brutal imbalance changes - but the game is out in the public and practically noone gives a damn about the 'beta' stuff.

also - dont bring free-to-play here. it is their choice of business model and if it means slower development or lower quality content then it is consequence of their business decision. being free-to-play makes noone immune to curses.. ee.. criticism.

btw - quotes from GGG saying about rocktober and awesome content etc. it is quite old if all that is coming is act3x and fishing - id love to hear about: balance plans (sporkers have to go), leagues, keystones etc. last time GGG introduced new stuff on release without previous testing - we are facing consequences of that till this day. id rather not repeat that experience
