GGG: You guys used to be good at communicating. Things seem to have taken a dip as of late

In your analogy the parents refused to confirm Christmas even existed and half the kids committed suicide in despair mid November.

So they've forgotten last Christmas and aren't content with the various gifts they've received throughout the year, thinking only about the bad parts and offing themselves in despair?

Kids these days!

To stay with your analogy: The kids remember the time when they got a lot of presents and felt very happy about them. But the reminiscense of these presents being drastically nerfed is very fresh in their memory and they got some problems to believe in further presents. Its hard to believe if things are taken away from you....

PoE is a beautiful game, and we all wish it will stay like that. I see the problem that ARPG will be hurt in favour of trade and future PVP. So a minority of players will have the goodies, while the majority looses a good game experience. GGG should be ready to discuss about this.

The problem with saying "we have a lot of really cool new content coming very soon, but we won't tell you what it is" is that you are creating an unrealistic image in peoples minds.

This has been a huge problem in general for a while. Chris seems to be lost in the 90s somewhere. Its 2013, and these days more and more indie devs are revealing more and more about the game, at all stages of development. GGG on the other hand has a closed alpha with a hard NDA and seems hellbent on keeping as much a secret as possible.

Indie devs are revealing huge amounts of whats in development for good reason. It works. You can't stop people from talking about what is/isn't coming no matter what you do, so they realized the obvious truth. You have plenty to gain by revealing a great deal more, and only crucial feedback/hype to lose out on by hiding so much.

Actually, yes.
Have you made a cool build using The Coming Calamity? Let me know!

1+ weekly would be nice or a a few quick snippets like what appears on Reddit via Chris. I am sure the people using POE'S forum are a bit more dedicated then others using reddit. A quick dev. journal would be nice to have it daily updated even if it has one phrase or two nothing huge just something or was that the idea of dev. manifesto(let me blow the dust off of that thread)...

I also apologize for my previous post, Reddit bothers me...lol.

cheers

As it turned out, we totally can churn out one skill per week... but it takes up a lot of our (limited) manpower to do so, and there is a whole lot of other stuff we needed (and still need) to do, too.

Fingers crossed that that means new sync code. Fingers crossed that that means new sync code. FINGERS CROSSED THAT THAT MEANS NEW SYNC CODE!!!

Perhaps they're spending longer days/nights working as they get nearer and nearer to the day the game launches, resulting in all the staff getting more and more weary and generally not feeling well enough to discuss stuff as being tired makes it easier to accidentally reveal more then they should.

It's gotta be taking a toll on them all. Hopefully we'll see a improvement after launch day, if launch goes smoothly.

Learn to savour the anticipation and the surprise, eh? Rattle the presents if you want, but don't expect Mom and Dad to outright tell you what's in the box.

While this is true for some people, PoE has a rather large number of theorycrafters. For people like us, the actual gift is starting the theorycrafting after getting all the info from the dev, rather than waiting to be surprised by the release. The anticipation then comes from waiting to be able to try out your theorycrafted work in practice.
we get one new place to farm instead of lunaris in release. it will be most likely 3 floors place with area lvl 69, 70 and 71. those areas can drop lvl66 maps too that you can try to climb up if you dare, or skip the climb with wallet if you not brave!!
