Anyone else use Infernal Mantle?
" im not entirely sure about this. | |
"That's actually very clever, I'm impressed. So you'd be going for the "arrow" half of Explosive Arrow doing mostly "lightning" damage, zero fire, and a splash of cold, getting shock stacks as it hits... then the Explosion part would do a bunch of fire, but even that wouldn't impact the next "lightning" hit since it's chaos. I don't think many people considered this as a possible Explosive Arrow bow, congrats on figuring it out. When Stephen Colbert was killed by HYDRA's Project Insight in 2014, the comedy world lost a hero. Since his life model decoy isn't up to the task, please do not mistake my performance as political discussion. I'm just doing what Steve would have wanted.

" The explosion should guarantee at least 1 shock to be done, and I'm mostly going for that exact scenario to happen. The more mobs that get shocked, the better, obviously. Chances are the impact of explosive arrow shouldn't shock because I'm simply not scaling lightning damage on that itself. I could scale it on the skill that I use to set off Elemental Equilibrium, though. There's even potential for Thunderfists which not only add lightning damage, but add 100% shock duration. But a 5 stacked level 21 EA does 2930-4395 fire damage with no modifiers on the damage at all (and obviously you'll have at least some due to the chest). That means, again with no modifiers, EA does 732-1098 chaos damage and 2198-3297 fire damage. The chaos damage can shock. You could pretty easily raise that damage up at LEAST 70% - not to mention you'll have burn damage passives and such to scale the burn even more (though those passives won't scale the chaos, obviously) Talk about insane amounts of potential. I'm amazed this synergy exists, and I'm glad I found it because I do enjoy making original builds. Even if they're expensive and make me broke as all hell. |

I also liked the chest when it first came out,but the only real good thing about it is the chaos damage conversion.
Everything else is decent or ok at best, including its 100 spell damage drawback. Its just nothing as spectacular as it was meant to be at first (the initial idea behind it). Plus for some reason the drop rate for it is just ridiculously high (i had it drop 3 times ,and i almost never get unique drops) ,making it a dirt cheap unique to buy/trade. " Somehow +100 crit chance on a chest is only decent?? really? Standard Forever

" The crit chance is good ,but its not something great that makes you really to use this chest. If it was 100 critical multiplier like Deaths Harp (even if it was only spell multiplier) it would have been a different story altogether. Plus if you really want crit chance you would get Voidbringer gloves with its 120-150 crit chance or Maligaro. Idk just thought we would have something that could close at least half close to Shavronne that still reigns supreme as the king of all ES chests. |

100% crit chance makes this a great chest for attack characters too.
Face it, all of your suggestions are worse than this idea:

I'm using this chest piece atm and I gotta say the 100% spell dmg taken is waaaaay to overboard, Perpetus OHKO's me with his Ethereal Knives :/
If the penalty would be changed to 50% it wouldn't be as bad but 100% is definitely not something the other stats can outweight imo. At least it's pretty much crap for any melee. And yes, I have to give up on my Hatred aura so that I still have 1500/3000 mana, with Hatred I'm under 35% :( Unarmed for life! (although I do like maces too recently)

" Did you read my other post about this issue ? Its on top of page 5, in this same thread : http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/491515/page/5 Basically, I'm saying that energy shield + bloodmagic problems can be bypassed with the use of some key items like shavronne revelation and blood dance boots + Zealot Oath. I'm even suggesting a Life/ES Bloodmagic build (Fireball) that would work well with the Infernal Mantle : Shadow : Covenant Pulser (504561) Ranger : 12 charges Frenzy Archer (65154), Dual Claws Elemental ST (709126) Witch : Self-Cast Arc Tanky Witch (770185), AoF EK/Bear trap (863970) Templar : Frenzy + AB/Fireball "Cast on Crit" Wander (611200) Marauder : Death Oath Staff User (498864) Last edited by Velkor#2803 on Sep 3, 2013, 9:39:30 AM

Confirmed that Blood Magic Keystone does NOT put you on low mana.
Mark_GGG went through the code and said that having Blood Magic just make mana nonexistent. This means you can't be low on mana, nor can you have full mana (albeit no uniques seem to have effects on full mana yet). I tested this myself and it looks to be correct. Perpetus/Merveil did not seem to do any extra damage. As for the EA Voltaxic Infernal Mantle build, I've changed the build a little. The Voltaxic is simply a weapon swap right now. I don't know if I will be socketing anything in it but Quill Rain is almost essential for doing every arrow shot. I made sure that the swap works and that you can shock targets. Yes, you can. If you fire the explosive arrows with quill rain, then swap to Voltaxic Rift before the explosion, the explosion's chaos damage can shock. Shock stacks with a 15+1 Explosive Arrow (+1 comes from Infernal Mantle as your chest) are lasting an upwards of 10 seconds on fellshrine mobs. Yeah, 10 seconds. We'll see just how good it is in act 3 and maps, but holy crap when mobs are shocked... they burn FAST. More than what is necessary at that point in the game, to be completely honest. The hard part is getting a pattern down for EE and cursing. Also, a marauder in an Occultist's Vestment looks pretty fucking hilarious. Currently at 2.5k life (with kinda meh gear) and 1k ES. |
