Will this crash the economy on quality gems ? , yep. But i don't think it will greatly effect the value of the gcp.
Sure this news will undoubtedly damn all or most quality gems to the 40% vendor formula. and there is no doubt because of this there will be a spike in the number of gcps in existence . however quality gems aren't infinite , once people craft all their quality gems to make gcps the amount of gcps being brought into circulation will go back to normal. Plus by making a recipe that people view as something other than an obnoxious rip off will most certainly encourage the large amount of non hardcore gamers to use their 1 - 2 gcps. Instead of sitting on them like those other orbs ( you know divines , exalted etc). |

"And that last one is a big deal. A level 81 character doing level 68 content suffers a 60% XP penalty to character XP with no penalty to gem XP, while a level 84 character doing level 66 content suffers a whopping 92% penalty (that's right, you only keep 8%), again with no penalty to gem XP. I think it's clear that sites like the one I was using are tracking character XP after the effects of penalties such as death and level differences, thus heavily confusing my numbers. Thus the problem wasn't so much in the data, it's that I had the wrong data and was making too many assumptions about the data I had. Some food for thought though: in the time it takes you to get a gem to level 20, you could have gotten to level 96 like I said... but only if you avoid level-difference XP penalties and avoid death. Thus one way of looking at it is that you've only been 40% efficient after penalties; lots of room left for optimization. It should be rather trivial to compute at what clvl your gems hit 20 based on what XP penalty you will suffer.
I still think my estimate of clvls in the 84-87 range is pretty accurate for most players. You can't avoid xp difference penalty, but you can minimise it by doing only doing 77 maps from level 85 and onwards..! Boy I do hope GCP will be wprthless. I'm gonna buy them 1chaos to 4GCP and upgrade all my gems from 0 to 20.
Any of you who say they're worthless want to trade? |

I really don't see this affecting GCPs in the long run. Not every gem you collect requires quality to be worth while, and even so, considering the hefty amount of time required to level gems, you can probably buy GCPs at the standard rate now and raise them to 20% quality faster than using the one and then completely relevelling it. Idk. Could be wrong.

As ScrotieMcB pointed out; people seriously underestimate how long it takes to level a gem to 20.
I did the math for this considering three scenarios: 1) You do nothing but Lunaris 3 runs from 75 and onwards: Your gems are level 20 when you are between level 85 and 86. 2) You do XP optimising, i.e. 68 content at 75 linearily progressing to 77 maps at 85: Your gems are level 20 when you are between level 91 and 92. 3) You do a more "normal" map progression; 68 until level 80 then +1 map level for every two character levels: Your gems are level 20 when you are between level 87 and 88. " I NEVER used a GCP on one of my low level toons, because it would be just plain stupid! If you can't finish the game content (except maps) without using gcps somewhere something went terribly wrong. "Yes, it is perfectly fair. It just sucks ass."

" That is a gross assumption. You really have no idea how easy it is to level a gem to 20. I just turned my Concentrated Effect to 20Q level 1 3 days ago and it is already level 16 after less than 9 hours of maps. I know that 18 and 19 get so much worse and that 20 is the big one, but it is not going to take 150+ hours of grinding 77 maps back to back like you are making it out to be. IGN: ThrobbinRobin

"Level 15: 4% down, 96% to go Level 16: 7% down, 93% to go Level 17: 13% down, 87% to go Level 18: 29% down, 71% to go Level 19: 56% down, 44% to go You're on track for about 100-125 hours. Which I guess means you have a point, that's not 150+. When Stephen Colbert was killed by HYDRA's Project Insight in 2014, the comedy world lost a hero.
