20Q vendor recipe=market crash

This is amazing on LMP, Faster attacks, faster casting, GMP, WED, the penetration gems, increased crit damage, melee physical damage, physical damage on full life, and icnreased crit strikes.

WAAAH! WAAAAAHHH, WAAAAHH, WAAAAH!

That's what these forums sound like.

This recipe is an awesome service for gearing out alts. I'm now adding IC and Duration to my current build so they're 20% by the time Im ready to roll up my 20s IC BoR Duelist.

I'll see you all again then :)

And suddenly you realize that barely any gems require quality bonuses to be good.

If you actually believe that, youre a noob + fool.

Theres not one viable build in this game that doesnt need at least one critical, if not a few, 20% qual gems.

That is the way the endgame has been designed. Now youre claiming that GGG failed to design its own game mechanics. I think most of us play PoE because they did so well at developing it. Not failed.

But you...you failed :)

You need to level a gem for something like 100 hours minimum to get it to level 20. Levelling a gem from 19 to 20 takes as long as 1 to 19.
Not a bad estimate, but even for elite players you're underestimating.

Just to verify this: today Rhalin was played Onslaught League for 6 hours 15 minutes and gained 157,877,539 XP; this is the optimal XP/hour among the entire population according to poestatistics.com. Thus we can conclude that optimal XP per hour is about 25 million per hour. A Fireball gem takes 3,290,609,850 character XP (since 10 character XP = 1 gem XP) to go from 1 to 20; this is equivalent to taking a character from level 70 to level 98 (although death penalties do not hit gems). Assuming Rhalin's pace of XP gain (which no one on that league can match), it would take 130 hours, 16 minutes and 3 seconds to accomplish the feat. That's over 5 days of play time.

Since you're probably not that good, a better estimate for most players is 200 play hours. If you play just over 2 hours a day, it'll probably take you three months.

Strange, it takes me 2 weeks to level gems to 20 in my swap. Also poestatistics says I map an average of 6-7 hours a day. We will just assume 7 hours of mapping a day.

7 hours * 14 days = 98 hours of mapping

I think the estimate of 100 hours is closer to what you are saying. Either that or my group must kill things extremely fast.

You are totally panicking and spreading misguided rumors over nothing. The simple reason why "everyone" won't be rushing to cash in their level-20 gems for Q20% level-1 gems is because it takes literally hundreds of hours of grinding to level a gem up to level-20. Aside from self-proclaimed no-lifers, the only practical way to level gems up to 20/20 will be through RMT slave labor.

The sky is not falling, and neither will the value of GCP's.

Do you even play the game? When this recipe was discovered, you have no idea how many people put the following into trade chat:

WTS GCPs for 3 chaos/7fusing/7scouring!

WTB Lvl 20 Gems!

WTB Exalts for 15GCPs+1Divine!

Just the other day, GCPs have been a steady 4chaos/8fusing/8scouring ea on Anarchy and it has been this way the entire time. Exalteds have been going for 14-15GCPs each.

I believe that some of the people are rushing(maybe panicking to you?) to sell their GCPs, but how is the value not dropping? It has already dropped 3 hours after the recipe was released on reddit.

hahaha, I can only laugh at this mass hysteria going around about this recipe. Market crashh! Wall Street is down! Run for the hills!!

The only thing that changes is that now some players wont be ble to scam / ripoff others, with the 20% == 1 exalt deal, anymore :D

Oh, and another thing changes: Ill be able to buy GCPs cheap and bring all my x% gems to 20%, which is way-foken-faster&cheaper than level one gem to 20, twice.

This places a price floor on lvl 20 gems, or a price ceiling in quality gems. It really doesn't matter for the leagues where the economy matters, that is hardcore leagues where there is an actual gem and gear sink.

Standard (and to less extent Anarchy, but as time goes they will equalize) "economy" doesn't matter and can't be "fixed".

Lol, it surely doesn't matter how 80% of the activate population plays. (yes sarcasm)

The discovered vendor recipe is crashing the value of GCP and quality gems. What's the point of gcp now? GGG should just save us a step and make every quality gem that drops 20Q. I know it doesn't break PoE, but it's disappointing to see GGG made such a poor development decision. 20Q gems used to be something special, now the market is flooded with them.

How quaint that you think this is at poor development decision in comparison to the many they have already made. :)

Strange indeed. I've never gotten a gem to 20, so I based my stuff off the Exile Wiki. According to poestatistics, you haven't broken 2 billion XP yet, which in theory should mean either 1) you're losing a lot of XP to deaths and/or level differences or 2) the gem XP information on the wiki is incorrect or 3) you're lying. And I actually don't think it's #3.

I have just reached 85 on my main in the first of my gems are coming in at 20 now. I have probably wasted two full levels to deaths, but I have also done alot of 66-68 content all the way through 82-83.

So my guess would be with zero deaths and doing mid level maps your gems will probably be 20 around level 86.
