I Would Upgrade to a Gold Pack But....[Desync issues, with GGG response]

The question for me is will they significantly improve game stability by the time they go OB? And how long are you going to be willing to 'let it slide'?

I think HC league players who experience this problem are going to be pissed if this persists into open beta....

In the last 5 months i have notice the desync problem getting more frequent, this may directly reflect on the larger amount of players that are daily inhabiting the realm, which is great to see. this leads me to ask the question, will this problem further diminish when more server space is available? If that is the case, cool i can live with that, but it would be nice if GGG kept us informed of these things.

They must improve stability; the game will fail in its current iteration. I have noticed the same thing, but I am encouraged that the devs seem to be taking steps to track where and when the desynchs and disconnects occur.

I think GGG's relative silence on this issue is due to the fact that it's a known problem, and they have said (in this thread, in fact) that they're working on it. I have faith, but I also can say that the current rendition of PoE would fall out of favour rather quickly if I was a HC player.

I really hope that the people complaining are not sitting and playing via a WiFi/Router Connection with an old computer and living far from the servers. Every single one of those points can or even will have a impact on gameplay.

There are so many things that give de-sync problems that aren't about servers.

I've been having problems with the desync only in the last week or so. Prior to that, I hadn't noticed it (except during open weekends, which is to be expected).

I-7 processor; 3.4 gig; 8 RAM, Radeon 6850, 40 mb wired connection. Eastern US. I do, however, typically sit when I play. So no, I can't dismiss this as a client-side issue.

And I'm not "complaining"; this is a BETA TEST. If I suffer in silence, a company I like a great deal will release a game that fails. I don't want this to happen. If I was playing on a five-year-old system I wouldn't be in the beta at all.

If this is what you really hope then let me put your mind at ease.

I currently play PoE on 2 systems that i built myself, my flagship- i7 960 3.2 cpu, gigabyte x58 ud7 mobo, 12gb high speed ram, 2 x asus gtx 580 in sli.

My budget build- i5 3550 3.4 cpu, gigabyte z77 ud3 mobo, 4gb high speed ram, 2 x gigabyte gtx 550ti in sli.

Both of these machines are hardwired to my router and i live in Australias' capital city. I have included speed test result which i just ran http://www.speedtest.net/result/2158795011.png.

i usually play a bow character and have found that while the desync events are fairly random in nature the target lock feature seems to be a common denominator as i have mentioned previously in this thread.

I hope your hopes have been realized and you are satisfied with all that you really hoped for dude.

i would not have started this thread if i hadnt read previous threads and suggestions and been confident that i wasnt just sprooking nonsense about something i could fix on my end.

Secondly i am far from alone in my experiences, which i first realized from comments by other players on HC chat. Turns out this was a fairly common occurrence.

System should not significantly impact desync. Desync is due to prediction entropy and in some cases lack of keyframe packets.

I'm glad others are being realistic about these desync issues.

Can't remember the quote from that one Nintendo person exactly, but it was something like "A good game is released (in PoE's case, enters OB) eventually."

Due to how bad the gaming community has become (thanks in large part to horrible business practices of Publishers), most free players won't give PoE a second chance with how bad these desync issues are. And you have to be really living in fairy-tale land if you don't think a good portion of those people will simply go to other forums and spread the word that "Yep, PoE is moar liek PoS." Repetition here but: Yeah, that's just how bad the community has become.

Thank you Activision, EA, Ubisoft, and all the other piece of shit publishers.

I'd rather see an OB release in summer 2013 than the game fail thanks to neglecting these desync issues.

All I can ever think of when someone complains about desync is playing Diablo 2 on dial up over 10 years ago.

Does anyone remember black wall???

Oh the lulz

Lets be abit more objective with our comparisons and bring it past the turn of the century me old fossil.

Everyone compares this game to D3, and in terms of server/ client stability D3 comes out on top, not by much, but i have yet to encounter a desync problem that led to my imminent demise in D3.

that part about comparing POE to D3? A closed beta vs. a block buster title. why on earth? madness

synchs normally feels okay to me. its just the occasional big, dangerous spike with deadly mobs around that i'd like to get rid of
Desync problem seems most noticeable on my shadow. Especially after a couple consecutive flicker strikes (from spending frenzy) follow by whirling blade (to get away from the mob), I always get rubberband back into the center of those mobs.
