" AGAIN, i don't care how and why people spend their money. If someone wants to donate a million dollars to this game or any other cause for that matter, more power to them. But no rational person can sit there and say that it is reasonable to spend $1000 on a video game, in whatever capacity, but unreasonable to spend $50 on an item in said video game. On the contrary, the person spending $1000 is doing so in the HOPES of a good outcome whereas the person spending $50 knows exactly what he is getting. |

" That's where your perception is affecting your ability to understand what is being said. You see, the person who donates the $1K isn't *hoping* for anything. There is a definite return - the knowledge that they helped a promising indy upstart and may have an impaact on the direction of gaming. You are either ignoring this very real return on investment or are unaware of "self-actualization". So in the absence of acknowledgement and/or understanding, you default to what is more tangible to you...i.e. "phat lewtz". I consider myself very rational and I can tell you I would never spend $50 on an in-game item but I would spend $50 buying stash space, getting character slots, etc. Why? Because I believe in earning the "phat lewtz" within the context of the game. Conveniences that do not compromise this belief are money well spent. Anything that makes it too easy just ends the game for me. |

" Congrats on completely and utterly missing the point of my post. Perhaps next time actually read the whole thing instead of using it as a platform to spout your own ridiculous morality. Last edited by jackals1234#2478 on Jul 10, 2012, 10:44:30 PM

" You made a lot of great points there and they really added to the discussion. I'm sorry that I like to play games in the way they were intended instead of buying my way through. I'd also like to apologize for understanding why a person would want to be a part of something without needing an extra advantage. I bet you wouldn't volunteer at a soup kitchen unless you got to eat first, lol. |

whoa, please keep this civil!
I understand the point of both sides as I used to hate people spending real money to gain an in-game advantage but eventually stopped caring and even started to sell (and very very rarely bought). It's really simple why some people buy stuff to get ahead. It's because they find it fun to be overpowered compared to the current stuff they are facing. The truth is that as long as it doesn't directly affect someone else, there's no reason for someone to hate someone else that's buying in game loot with real money. For the person that got his stuff "legit", I understand why it feels that the person that bought the items seems like a cheater because he didn't go through the same trials as you did. But in reality, did it remove some of your enjoyment? Did it makes you feel any less rewarded when you actually got the items? Did it diminish your fun? All it could have done is shrink your e-peen. In all reality, buying items and trading for items through in-game means is very similar, you are trading time spent for something that will give you more entertainment. I don't think people who pay to win are cheaters. They are just playing it differently than I am. All I was doing was trying to show Jackass1234 why some people might think differently than he/she does.

" And yet in ever single one of my posts i said i had no issue with someone spending $1000 on a game. I also said i personally have never bought in-game items for real money but understood why people did. Which is why it helps to actually read something in it's entirety rather than making a knee jerk reaction to one post you read out of context. |

" " You called everyone who thinks this way irrational and I attempted to explain why someone would think that way. I'm sorry if you couldn't understand that. |

I think there is a difference between pay to win transactions and d2jsp version of pay to win. For pay to win transactions good items are artificially introduced into the game. For the D2jsp version players still have to find the item. If anything I think d2jsp should be frowned upon because it bypasses the trading system in the game.
