My experience in this game has been nothing but negative and harassive.

Somebody needs to read Lord of the Flies.

I've read it and it only proves my point, as far as a piece of fiction can do that. Did the boys not stick together? Did they not hunt together and shared their food? Or was it everyone for himself with each one fighting over everything and hoarding everything they won?
Sure, things got nasty, but they got nasty in groups not in individuals with everybody at each others throats.

@Udja: English is not my primary language. I've read your post again anyway and it might be that I completely misunderstood it. Is what you said actually the opposite of what I thought it would? Not sure.

@ Jojas,

Sent you a pm explaining all the delicate nuances of my pirate post. Go read it and then you will understand ;)
The Pope quit, a meteor fell on Russia, an
asteroid came close to the earth, there's snow
in Arizona, star wars and star trek have the
same director! Who the hell is playing jumanji?

So what does 'fitty' mean then?

GGG forced a consequence free 'cut throat' loot system that rewarded the anti-social assholes and punished the social players. So instead public parties being fully of friendly helpful players they are instead dominated by the rude.

Now you can spout "loot is not your until it's in your inventory" or "the game only gives you a chance to get loot" all you want. However you try and justify the loot system you will have a hard time denying that it has killed to social aspect of co-op and caused the asshole behavior that the OP highlighted.

Now the question is if adding loot options will bring back some of the players and improve the community?

GGG,s only mistake was thinking a f2p game would attract a playerbase mature enough to handle a cut throat game. As you can see they were extremely mistaken. Crybabies everywhere as far as the eye can see

You misunderstand the key problem with the loot system being cut-throat.

Here's my experience from someone who doesn't give a fuck about group play who just tried it to find out what all the fuss is about:

Players do not actually fight in groups: one player steams ahead and everyone else has to 'keep up with them'. This 'front-runner' then just scoops up 'all' the loot - thereby encouraging people to run ahead and not involve themselves with group play.

This advantage is nothing more than a PC-spec advantage. By the time my character had simply walked through a door loading screen, the front-runner was already entering the next door at the other side of the map.

It's not about QQing - it's about the facts about what is actually happening and simply stating the 'facts' of the matter.

On the odd rare occasion when two or three players would at least try to stay within vision of each other the loot would drop in the most retarded manner. I would open a chest where I stood and a Scroll of Wisdom would drop for another player on the other side of the screen.

The other player then opens a chest on their side of the screen and out pops a Chromatic Orb which is highlighted for me. Again, the ability to react to all this is purely dependant on the quality of your game-speed. The slower your FPS the less you are able to participate in the concept.

It also wouldn't matter so much if the allocation of the loot was dependant on who actually acquired it's production in the first place.

And the third experience was when I wandered off from the main party and opened a chest with no-one else around and out popped an Orb of Transmutation and an Orb of Augmentation - neither of which was allocated to me. I had to stand there and wait for 'ages' while everyone else was shooting forward.

All of which is not QQing, it's just stating the facts of what actually happened.

And every time this happens it's implanting layer upon layer of guilt and anger in each player that partakes. for any other emotion to be created from such a method of loot-dropping would be inhuman and a lie.

Absolutely none of this motivates me to play 'cut-throat' even though the concept of 'cut-throat' is one that does interest me. To me, cut-throat would be 'I get what I kill' - and then it would make some sense to me.

What's with all the illogical people claiming that everyone who doesn't experience the same rage as them is 'insane' and 'inhuman'? Great, I get ya point brah - FFA sux to you; just save the "if you don't agree you're insane" stuff cos that is qqing.

Yes, I got angry when beeatches ninja'd my sweet lewtz - back in the 1400s. Now, when I play in a party, I expect that I'm gonna miss some shit so there is no anger whatsoever. And whilst I'm not the best example of "human" I know for a fact that there are other 'sane humans' who do the same and don't get upset. If you ask me, the 'insantity' is letting a game system upset you so much.

I've played with some who party the way you describe - one guy running ahead snatching up the sheezy - then I've played in groups where peeps kinda hung back out of respect or cos they had Alzheimer's or something.

Anyway, I personally agree with derbefrier - GGG don't make some things clear enough for the unwashed masses on sign up (case in point, the recent addition of the "This is HC - you will die and we won't care" message).

Which is why I solo with the global chat turned off. The fact that a significant number of players do the same shows that the loot system kills the social aspect of the MMO game.

I agreed with everything you said, till you went and called it a MMO.
It's an ARPG with the novelty of grouping which is a waste of time cuz public groups are full of greedy social degenerates that run ahead hoping to scoop it all.

The reason 'we' know you're 'lying' is because dramatic, over-the-top, ultra-defensive denial is the clearest sign you can give that what you're saying requires more than a simple statement of fact.

Further, you ignored the many points raised to concentrate on a minor supplemental point. That this smaller supplemental point seems more important to you than the mechanical issues raised it suggests that you felt this was the most important point which required addressing. Why is that? Lingering tendrils of guilt?

Lol xD Overreaction, guy. I thought I was the only fool just looking for arguments instead of actual discussion.

My "over the top" reaction (wtf... read the forums if you want to see "over the top" reaction) was merely a response to the absolutely ridiculous claim that anyone who doesn't agree with you is lying and inhuman - I've seen that overreaction too much lately. I know you're a sensible human being so I know that you're only trolling when you argue that point.

Lingering tendrils of guilt... meh... get a real point. I don't rise to kids looking for fights - give me an actual, intellectual fight with the adult you and I'm ya man brah.

I'd recommend just taking a break from the game. That's what me and my friends are currently doing. Just wait till around summer time when theres been alot more updates fixing common issues and adding more end-game content. And if you still don't like the game in that state then just repeat the waiting process and come back around winter time. After all, this is a free game thats still in beta, so it's not like having to put it away for awhile is a bad thing.
