My experience in this game has been nothing but negative and harassive.

You reap what you sow.

GGG forced a consequence free 'cut throat' loot system that rewarded the anti-social assholes and punished the social players. So instead public parties being fully of friendly helpful players they are instead dominated by the rude.

Now you can spout "loot is not your until it's in your inventory" or "the game only gives you a chance to get loot" all you want. However you try and justify the loot system you will have a hard time denying that it has killed to social aspect of co-op and caused the asshole behavior that the OP highlighted.


Now the question is if adding loot options will bring back some of the players and improve the community?

Which is why I solo with the global chat turned off. The fact that a significant number of players do the same shows that the loot system kills the social aspect of the MMO game.

This game is intended to be a cut-throat kinda game. This was communicated to us via the devs from the very beginning.

For example. If you were a pirate, would you let some other pirate touch your booty? Probably not. Well here, the game is geared towards being an exile in a hostile land and you have to do what you have to do to survive; protect your booty.

That doesn't make sense. If I get stranded on a mysterious island with an extremely hostile environment I tend to stick with those that also got stranded there. I will not try to rip them off/scam them/steal from them in plain sight of others because that will make me end up shunned/an outcast or even dead.

It does not make any sense at all. It's really the most basic psychology is what it is. People just would not behave that way because it would not do them any good. And everyone except the most greedy, selfish, irrational hysterics would know that.

Problem is, the game does not provide any means which would make sense given the circumstances. There is no cutthroat league or any other way of retribution and 'naming&shaming' is a no-no. The whole thing is yet a bit half-assed actually.

PoE is pretty tame when it comes to letting people be dicks. I don't know if you're all talk or if you've actually tried it, but you can't really slap your dick around in other people's faces either.

You can:

*Kill somebody doing the bandit quest who's not on their guard.

*Loot snipe a couple of items in a party/get kicked out/join another party/repeat until most players know to kick you.

*advertise crappy items in trade chat demanding bogus prices and being ignored.

*Call people a homosexual repeatedly in chat and/or various racial slurs until you get muted by admin.

*slap your dick around on your monitor screen imagining it going into somebodies face.


Gee whow, this game is soooooo edgy and mean.

Meanwhile it only takes a couple of parties to find people that are reasonable who will happily friend you and group fairly in return for a reliable comrade. All the people I run maps with regularly I met from doing open 66llvl m2m parties and friending the players that were looking to play honestly and fairly. Now we roll together and divide up loot as needed and have a good time pooling our resources and chasing success.

TL/DR: You QQ worse than Barack Obama at a press conference and probably sit down when you pee.
