I came here from Diablo 3!!! [Please post here if you did as well!]
ex-D3 player coming to check out the Open Beta. If I enjoy it, will jump on the closed beta and play some more.

Abandoned that mess in hopes that this is better. Looking forward to open weekend and hopefully a beta key at some point. Cheers all.

Just moved over from D3 also :) Gosh the horror of that game will forever haunt me ! I cannot believe how they destroyed my beloved game :(

Trying out the stress test this weekend as I've lost all motivation to continue D3 after the wizard invuln exploit and barb furious charge exploit were made public. It's no wonder nothing would sell and the economy is just so broken beyond repair. That was the final straw. This reminds me of a little bit like D2 in terms of the atmosphere and the video I saw about the opening random maps with different properties is very intriguing.

If Kotick resigned tomorrow, it wouldn't change a thing. The "merger" between Activision and Blizzard was the moment that declared, "We're done making a profit based, exclusively, on gameplay value." Whoever made that decision is the problem. Whatever force over there -- Vivendi perhaps? They saw WoW take off, and wanted more. More more and more.
But I don't necessarily blame them either. They're a holdings company. They acquire businesses and fund them in order to make money. Which is fine. Without them, great Blizzard games wouldn't have had adequate budgets. Before this becomes tl;dr, the real problem is the popularity of gaming, and the fact that it requires investment to make them. Gaming just became too popular to not exploit, for profit, in every direction. It's the nature of capitalism; one of it's necessary evils (still the best system imo; even with the evils placed where they are. No system is perfect). Making a great game does not necessarily equate to the highest profit anymore. So, the industry is pretty much screwed from here on out. Well, it has been for a while. But this is a blatant example of what has happened. It's just too big. And there is nothing we can do about it. Well, there is... Support indie developers. Blizzard became great because it made great games. Eventually, it's place will be taken. And it will come from a group of gamers making games for gamers. All this has happened before, and all of it will happen again. |

Another disappointed diablo fan here. D3 was good for one play-through but nothing more.

Bought the Early Access pack yesterday evening after watching a gameplay video.
I thought for the 10 bucks (or ~8,50€) I paid, I could expect anything, good or bad, and I was really surprised. My first hour of playing PoE was way more Diablo than the whole D3, although I don't think it's really that bad. But the fun I imagined I might have didn't come... I'm quite enjoying the beta right now and hope that this game gets even better. :D |

I loved D1 and D2... When i heard about the changes made in beta, i knew deep in me they will suck and ruin the game.
Beta confirmed that to me. no Skill tree, boring gameplay, you had to start with boring normal mode, and WTF! Healglobes????????? OMG, am i that casual? NO, so, never bought it. But i am really sad for the serie of Diablo games. Tons of seriuos expl, bugs and issue over issue did not make it better... not to talk about RMAH.. TL2 beta showed me instead how good gamplay of ARPG should be in memory of good old Diablo tradition. Now i hope to get a Beta Key for PoE either. I love the graphic of PoE. Don't know much about the gameplay, but there is a chance to like it very much.- maybe F2p and maybe an option for pay to win is the sticking point. If GGG does like godfather of f2p principle with no unfair gameplay Effect LOL then yes, there is a good chance for PoE to become nearly as famous. But for now i don't feel confident about that. Time will bring it.. ~Legit gaming since 1992~ Last edited by Skyhaster#6201 on Jul 26, 2012, 6:23:15 AM
