I came here from Diablo 3!!! [Please post here if you did as well!]
I guess I should thank Gay Wilson for his mess up. If D3 wasn't a total failure of greed I would have never come across this gem of a game. I was originally on board for TL2 but needed distraction in the mean time. POE seem to be getting a lot of honorable mentions in the D3 forums.
This game is quickly becoming my main game to play and have TL2 become the off-time filler (cause lets face it, this game is dependent on an internet connection and if there is a time where i am stuck offline I wil at least have one game to try out in the ARPG dept. Anyway love POE. Best use expenditure of 10 bucks ever. It there are others waiting anxiously for a beta key, I would suggest just forking up the 10 sicne you already paid 60 for a retail beta D3. "How would you like it if I snuck into your country and did this job over there... and not cash in any of your friggin checks?!! You WONT!! Because you will be right here!!" - Master Shake.

It's a real shame that this thread exists. It's an even greater shame that a lot of people utter the phrase "PoE is what Diablo 3 should have been!" How could Blizzard - a company whose games I used to love - fail so spectacularly?
Warcraft 2 was my first ever multiplayer game, Diablo kept me farming for a King's Sword of Haste for God knows how long, Starcraft + Brood War made me really appreciate the RTS genre, and Diablo 2 was just too awesome... And now? More and more people leave D3 behind, waiting for Torchlight 2, Guild Wars 2 or playing PoE (hopefully the latter ;-)). I still hope that Blizzard will rewrite the game, emphasizing on its strengths and ironing out its flaws, but I wouldn't bet anything on it anymore. I wouldn't even bet on an add-on being released. Enough ranting for today, but these thoughts make me really sad :-( A sword he brought, his foes to maim and rend,
from places dark behind forbidden doors, But night by night he woke with frighten'd roars from darkest dreams, too strange to comprehend. (Anonymous) |

" It cannot be helped, Blizz brought it upon themselves. :3 Sometimes you can take the game out of the garage but you can't take the garage out of the game.

" Unlike many others, I don't think D3 is centered around the auction houses. I think they just made the first three difficulties far to easy for experienced players (maybe to appeal to casual gamers?) - and then they completely botched the endgame. I think it all went down somewhat like this: They were behind schedule ans wanted to release before the competitors did. So they cooked up inferno without thoroughly testing it for long-term motivation and balance. Thus, they created a game without any long-term motivation except for they most die-hard players. But EXACTLY THAT was the magic of Diablo 2 IMHO: Long-term motivation for hundreds of hours. A sword he brought, his foes to maim and rend,
from places dark behind forbidden doors, But night by night he woke with frighten'd roars from darkest dreams, too strange to comprehend. (Anonymous) |

" Same here! haha |

"Of course they didn't. Some internal testers may have played Inferno and thought: "Wow, it's so hard I can't even reach act 3... well, might be alright for the core players!" No beta player has ever seen even the second half of act I in NORMAL mode. How could they have tested the rest of the game properly? Thousands of players will always give you better feedback (especially concerning long-term motivation and balancing) than a small group of internal ones. So, that's what D3 is in now basically: Open Beta with all acts available. It might get better over time, but some flaws are so major and of conceptional nature, I fear D3 will never be the game so many people want(ed) it to be. i was here before D3 to fil lthe waiting time and see what this small companay of GGG is producing and i thought it is very well. than came D3, first weeks were amazing, best gameplay and still better as PoE i think, but the rest in D3 is too bad anyway, so i come back now to see the new features been added to poe.
hope i can ignore the slow gameplay(play a hunter in D3 and a hunter in PoE and u will see what i mean) cheers |

" This was a "setback" of sorts for me as well: Things took much more time to kill. However, I quickly adapted to this, now I liek it better than the fact-paced combat of D3 ;-) A sword he brought, his foes to maim and rend,
