Not as "smooth" as that other game

One of the main problems in my eyes is the time it takes characters to finish animations, especially firing bows.
The fact that your character is essentially out of your control during the animations is a problem.

"Dude you don't need to ready another arrow when someone is about to bury an axe in your face, fucking start running after you shoot, plenty of time to get another arrow ready while legging it."
Is what i'm shouting at my archer character.

Please allow animation canceling.

PoE needs a good dose of animation cancelling.

Almost every single animation in the game should have a region in the end that can be skipped if another action (movement, another skill) is used.

This is customary in fast paced games, GW2 adopted it before the open beta weekends and the performance and feel of the game improved greatly.
I had been noticing this too, and to me becomes more apparent when one is using a diverse set of skills (some magic, some ranged, some melee etc). The unresponsiveness becomes clear especially when you are trying to use multiple skills like these. Flicker Strike, to me, seems to be one of the most clunky skills I have ever experienced in a game like this. I typically ping about 270, and the reason I know this isn't all due to lag is because other skills work and execute perfectly fine (Double Strike comes to mind)
Yeah there is a still lot of work to be done on the crunchiness of the skills and combat and so on. However, they are fully aware and this is something that will probably come after they have finished the major asset production and so forth for the various acts and monsters.

++ :D The number of times I've gotten swatted like a fly because my ranger is deciding whether or not to carry on firing while I'm furiously clicking in the "run away! run away!" direction.

Sure this will receive the attention it deserves once content/mechanics/etc have been bedded down..

Guys, you should realize this is still closed beta. I know it cannot realized in heat of battle :-)

But still, this beta is the smoothest of all I've been to. And it is not small number. You should know, in betas there are programs in background watching every action and looking for bugs. So this is why all betas are worse in responses and smoothness then releaed producta.

Good to hear that everyone's not too bent out of shape about this but that it's a commonly accepted issue. I'm sure GGG will improve it eventually. It's nothing game-breaking, to say the least. T3h epic lewtz keeps us going.

But I did post in a thread about this being one of the sole reasons I still enjoy, "that other game," every once and awhile.

That other game gives me 200 or 250+ pings during busy hours and is unplayable to me.
With PoE I always have around 50 ping

Ya the animations need to be smoothed out for sure. I think I remember seeing a post about them saying a lot of the animations are just place holders and were done in a day. :)

It sure does feel clunky especially a ranger.
Welcome to millions of dollars in development difference between this and that "other" game.

Imagine what is to come as support flows in.
