" Apparently it was somehow possible to dupe or multiply items and or gold, and thus, servers were down for emergency maintenance, particularly the Asia server. This, predictably, led to a royal shitstorm on the Korean forums, spilling into the US and EU forums (since the people playing on the Asia server had the impression that Blizzard was not reading their local forums). To top it off, you can apparently exploit the auction house by setting your system clock back and forth. Yes. The highly advanced "we want to ensure competitive gameplay, which is why everything is done by the server" lets the client's clock control their auctions. Brilliant move. And to to put a cherry on top, the raids on Blizzard's Korea HQs has had apparently ramifications. Yeah, that's a lot of "apparently"s in this posting - because I don't know any of this for fact, I'm merely reporting what I've read. Anyhow, to quote from the US forums:

"After inspecting Blizzard Korea's offices in Seoul, the Korean FTC has found the company in violation of "Electronic Trade act" and "Terms of Service act." Specifically: Breach of "Electronic Trade act" 1. Lack of discussion of refund policies and procedures in its sales contract. 2. Publicized "no refund policy" in direct violation of customer's right to a refund. Breach of "Terms of Service act" 1. Current ToS relieves Blizzard from all forms of negligence, great or small. 2. ToS instead transfers that responsibility to the customer. Separate issue: Blizzard Korea admitted to erroneously charging gameplay rates (in PC bangs) while game is not being played and even when servers are offline. The Korean FTC plans to: 1. Order Blizzard Korea to issue refunds. 2. Open a formal investigation with regards to current ToS" 12/12/12 - the day Germany decided boys are not quite human.

I'm not a communications, PR whateva, Internet security manager in RL. I don't understand how it can turn out like this. I wonder how GGG can defend itself when exploiters come knocking :(
As much as I knock A-B here, hope they can get on top of things! It seems if you allow/miss/don't listen and fix newly emerging hot exploits/hacks/bugs you can lose control very quickly and then you pissed off your suppoerters and fan base. Its a PR nightmare.
