Well, I'm trying to maintain/grow my 76-78 pool, so just wondering what is the best way to do so in an economic manner (10c trying to roll pack size on rare maps isn't very economical:P). I guess my question is, is pack size on a transmuted map enough to sustain a map pool?

In regards to that this thread could help you: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/807964

No straight answer, but the most interesting preliminary finding (http://maps.skyl3lazer.com/1000-data-points-first-impressions/) is that pack size, +rares and +magics have THE EXACT SAME EFFECT on map drops. Map quantity is still the most deciding factor though, slightly more significant than the other 3.

I read something just the other day stating the one modifier you want to get the highest AVERAGE level of maps is +rare monsters. +pack and + magic have very little impact on the average level of the maps dropped

if you're going quantity, then whatever tihs is saying

Makes sense. From my understanding when rare and unique monsters drop maps they ONLY drop maps that are 2 levels higher. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I'm also pretty sure that magic monsters only drop maps that is 1 level higher.
Thanks for the fast replies. Checking out the link now:)
I'm fairly certain that magic/rare monsters only raise the potential level of maps dropped, but not the lowest available (66). I have no hard evidence, though.

IIt is def false information that magic+ monsters only drop higher level maps. It just allows them to drop higher level. Its entirely possible to get a lvl 66 map from a 78 boss.

I'll pay more attention to map drops from magic and rare monsters next time, but I don't think I recall a case where a non +1 or +2 map dropped from a magic monster.
I'm like 99.9999% sure magic and rare monsters dropped me lower level maps hundreds of times.

They do, they have the "ability" to drop +1, it is not guaranteed. But it is a good way to build up +1/+2 map pools.
Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes
Looks like I'm wrong then lol.
Map drop level is directly linked to monster level.

Rares/Uniques (boss + exiles) can drop +2 maps
Magic can drop +1 maps
Everything else, including chests/breakables +0 maps

"can" is the operative word - often the map dropped will be of a lower level. This percentage increases as you attempt to drop higher level maps also.
