has Diablo stolen players from POE?

diablo 3 is epic.

many people worldwide are playing d3. i heard that even the developers at ggg got the collectors edition of diablo 3 to play the game.

anybody that is stupid enough to condemn d3 needs to get real and wake up their ideas......

You know what's truly stupid about all of this? The topic title. It's working on the false premise that games own players.

Last I checked, it was the other way around.
Warhammer 40k Inquisitor: where shotgunning is not only not nerfed, it is deeply encouraged.

Dogma > Souls, but they're masterworks all. You can't go wrong.

I was right about PoE2 needing to be a separate, new game. It was really obvious.
given how some of these companies act, they pretty much do think that they own the players, given that if the people in question are invested enough into the game, they won't leave unless something severely disruptive wrecks everything

so they consider everything in between fair game for exploitation, and regularly test this limit in order to see how far they can go as far as trawling for money goes

it's frankly disrespectful

but the problem and the reality of the situation is that many players are addicted to games, just like drinkers are addicted to alcohol, smokers to cigarettes, gamblers to casinos, etc, etc, etc......

Oh, for certain. I'm sure no one here is entirely guilt-free there. There is some degree of psychological ownership, but this needs to be clarified nonetheless. It's not like Diablo broke into PoE's house and 'stole' players; the game is much fairer than that. I would use the word 'lured', not 'stolen'.

I think game addiction is one of the stupider ideas thrown around these days, can one be addicted to Golf?

The so called game addiction is probably confused by people with OCD (Obsessive compulsive disorder).
Better having a OCD fixation with a video game than slitting your wrists.
No, I think psychological addiction to an activity that simultaneously feeds the brain with certain pleasurable sensations and to excess can be detrimental to one's health is very much a real thing.

No, I more than think it. I know it.

I'm not sure 'golf' is really all that comparable. Is it *designed* to be addictive? Does playing it to excess lead to poor health and reduced social life? Possibly, but the amount of effort required to take it to that extreme would far outweigh the pleasurable sensations from doing it.

Not so video/computer games. And when you factor in the pseudo-social side of online gaming, you can even justify doing it to excess because you're 'maintaining human contact'.

Any true addict knows an excuse when they give one.

Golf is more expensive than drugs so its hard to be that addicted
