Post aura rage here. I will lock any other aura thread I see.

Those new aura's could have been better designed by a blind gopher on methamphetamines...

Honestly, the game doesn't even run smoother or crash less, it was a useless change for someone with a crappy old pc (like me) I can't even fathom the horror for those who don't use an oversized calculator for a pc...

Never argue with a zombie, he'll drag you down to his level and eat your brains.
I will have to agree on this one.
This is the first issue that I'm slightly disappointed by. Everything else is exceptional and I will still continue to support this game for years.
It's definitely not a major issue but still.

The new auras look a bit... outdated if I may :) Hardly visible circles around the characters.
Really liked the old ones and I had no performance issues with them even with 6 party members running with multiple auras.

I always advocate that more options isn't necessarily better by default, but on this case, as it's only a visual preferance and in some cases a performance issue, I would also like to see a toggle option to turn the old, better looking auras on.

If that's not an option for you, then I will ask that if you could tune them up a bit from their current form. Make them thicker, glowing or both.

so oblige me by telling the main reason that it was done for?
I already said both of the reasons behind the change.

My suggestion is to have an option that works like this:

Option Name: HQ Auras
Settings: Everything, Source, Nothing.

| Original Aura appearances appear on everything influenced by one.
| Only things that are the source of an Aura will feature the old detailed versions of Auras, everything else will use simple Auras. An enemy that is a source of an Aura will display the old more detailed Auras even for those they aren't the source of (To keep the system simple). Player characters will always use the old more detailed aura visuals even for those they aren't the source of.
| Everything uses the current simple Aura graphics.

honestly i dont like these new auras..im not happy about it being changed...too simplified and too dumbed down..i dont see any performance increase in the game wat so-ever..they all just boring rings now..want to be able to switch it on/off in menu as it is a personal choice..like back in titan quest days they also dumbed it down and it looked stupid
diablo 2 mod auras glow so much better now
yes im not happy at all with this new auras
you want to feel buffed and powerful the way it was
so i read through this thread and alot of dislikes towards the new auras

personal opinion i think they, ggg, should ad more severs to make less the load for a performance increase..that is where i get lag ...
severs are to cramped up.latency too much
im here and then im there on the screen .my caracter jumps around on screen sometimes
and do u have to pay now for the auras ..that sucks

=======================================

personal choice to switch it on/off in menu
or to be able to choose the intensity settings on screen eg. like faded or low medium high settings or with a slider
would be so much better
then everyone is happy in their own world

+++++++++ 10 graphics options {for a better way of saying it}

its not my pc causing issues..gtx 680..I5 3570k {OVC}..z77 mb.2133 ram..120gig ssd..500gig for games..1000 watt psu.so.....

the point is ultimately, they keep talking about improving visuals, and then they change something ON SUCH A SCALE that it does not even fit in with the rest of the graphics in the game now, it's just an ugly eyesore.. OH LOOK, WE FOUND SOME SPINNY GIF THING ON OUR PC FROM 1994, LETS USE IT IN THE GAME IN 2013, THAT WILL LOOK SO NATRUAL..

regardless of what happens with auras from here on.....

PLEASE DO NOT CHANGE MOLTEN SHELL OR RIGHTEOUS FIRE!

As much as I want the old aura's back, I understand that others can like or prefer the new auras.

Graphic option would be the best solution I guess. I didn't see ANY improvements at all, and I usually have FPS problems.
I want the old ones baacckk. :(
I'm also going to advocate for the graphics option.

I will say that the design philosophy of "2013 needs everything to be huge and futuristic and use our maximum computer capacity" is the dumbest possible design philosophy.

Some of my favorite games were on the PS1.
I can emulate that pretty damn well these days.

Have you ever looked at the textures for PoE up close? Like on the twilight strand and the shores of Terraces and stuff like that?

They're flat.
With the exception of the things your character collides with, it's all flat. All of those little conch shells and pebbles are just a small image on the ground, that still succeeds incredibly at giving the feel of a shoreline. Without individually needing to respond to lightning flashes, for example, only general changes in how that entire region is lit.
Why am I wearing a heavy belt if I haven't got any pants?

I've been noticing the water can completely obfuscate various aura visuals.
