Why did you choose to support?

Did you do it just to get a key?
Maybe you were already in, but wanted something more. Like a kiwi, or another key for your friend.

Whatever made you do it, tell it here!

I simply enjoyed PoE more than I've enjoyed any game for a long while. I love the project. It's full of ambition and it's heartwarming to see how much effort GGG puts in to make PoE as good as possible.

Keep up the good work!

PS. I really, really like the idea of designing a unique for the game!
The Albino Marauder.
I did it for the sword.

Actually, when Chris announced supporter packages during the first open weekend (I already had had a key for a week or two by then -- still fresh meat), I eagerly awaited to see how much I could support (within reason, though). And when they said in-chat that the highest tier would involve designing an item for the game...BAM. That was it. Because I'm an old roleplayer. Old, old, old. I build my favourite characters in every game I play, give or take. I try to make them work. And Charan is, obviously, my main character. He's been through so many weird scenarios, settings and narratives. He is what you'd call a universal personality -- someone like him exists everywhere, every time. In PoE, I naturally don't 'roleplay' (and good grief people would be confused if I talked in-character in the global chat...and very offended), but the idea of Charan being able to find an incarnation of *his* sword in Wraeclast was just too tempting.

Had the Diamond Support been something else (another game offers, for 1k, the usage of your real face on an npc -- YUCK!), I wouldn't have been so quick to do it. I might have contacted GGG and suggested something else were I to support above Diamond (which I have by now, people always needs keys...), but there's no way I'd pay a grand to have my ugly mug in a game. No. Way.

Also, I love this community. Have since the start. I posted a rather long rant about why I chose this over D3 and instead of polarising the community, it generated a LOT of great discussion from all comers (well, most). The first thing Chris ever said to me in game was 'love your forum posts!'...man, hearing that from a dev is beyond any expectation.

And that's all before I went Diamond.

In short, I chose to support because GGG are bleeding stones to create what I feel is the ultimate environment for the Diablo veteran, from the game down to the leagues and the sorts of players that PoE is likely to attract and retain. And I chose to support at the level I did partly for vanity, partly because I wanted to be a real but confined part of the game's development...but mostly because so many people wanted to go Diamond but obviously can't. I did it for them too.

Thank you for you joining us, Erkyn. Now, let's see what kind of crazy unique you come up with! :)

PS During the first open weekend, one fellow adamantly argued that it's not a donation, it's a contribution. I disagreed for a while but in the end relented. No support package is a donation. You get, aside from any perks, an exact value of cash store credit (GGGold, as I call it) equal to whatever you put in. This makes it a transaction of money for goods, albeit virtual. That's not a donation. GGG isn't a charity. It is planning on making a profit eventually. This is nitpicky but it's important to remember.

I was lucky enough to get a beta key from the randomizer. But as soon as school is over and I'm back from vacation I'll be donating just cuz. PoE is a great game, GGG seems like a great bunch, and I want to see this thing succeed. Hopefully the shop will have expanded by then and there will be purchases worth more than 10 pts/$.

I got a key from a generous poster on NeoGAF, played the game for 2 days and felt in love with it right away so decided to help fund more awesome content for PoE.
No gods or kings only man
At first I became a Bronze Supporter, I choose this level of support for several reasons:

1) I wanted a key

2) I got a kiwi, I initially decided to go kiwi pack pretty much just for the pet.

3) After thinking about it for a few minutes I settled on bronze because i'd spend that on a new game and be done with it after a week anyway, so even if I got bored of PoE eventually it wasn't a big loss when put into that kind of perspective. Also bronze gave me extra keys to entice other people I know to try PoE.

I upgraded to Gold after 0.9.9, i'd pretty much decided I was going to go Silver at this point because i'd eventually want more micro-transaction currency anyway, so why not get it now and get a better kiwi?

Why did I go Gold instead of Silver? because I vowed to do so if they fixed chat by making enter default to your last used channel, I said i'd do it so I did. This may seem silly to you but I wanted to see this one thing happen as a sign that the heap of things in this game that I find frustrating are getting addressed.

In closing, be careful what you wager diamond support on...
I haven't yet - but I shall probably grab a bronze as I would buy a title of this quality.

I was promised fruity rewards. I was tricked.
I was originally was going to wait like everyone else for a beta key..

But after 6hrs or so i got impatient, n bought the 15 dollar supporter pack.
The reasons. I wanted a key. And also the game was made semi-locally and I like to show support for smaller developers.

A couple of weeks later I liked the game alot so I upgraded to the silver pack. Which if the most I would pay for a game anyway, especially for one still in closed beta :)

An odd one for me.

I haven't played Diablo 1 or 2.

I have no interest in D3.

Every F2P game I have played to date I stuck with for a maximum of 1 or 2 days.

For some reason when I stumbled upon this game it really intrigued me. I signed up and just hoped to get in to the beta.

After several days, the video went up showcasing a preview of the shadow fellow. And seeing him run around the prison level...it just looked darn cool. The art style, the combat, all of it. So off I went to 'buy' my way into the beta.

I didn't just opt for the $10 though, I went for the Kiwi mainly because I like things like in game pets and I am fond of game soundtracks. Even so, an unusual and out of character move on my behalf to blindly put money into something like that. For all I know I would hate it! But something about it lured me in.

Now I am already planning on next payday to up my support to the bronze pack. If beta keeps going, I will keep upgrading my support every month.
*WARNING* - expect typos!

I hope beta extends beyond June just for that sentiment. It is good.
