Beware People Scamming Shavronne's Wrappings

So here is the deal:

In short - GGG wants player interaction so that we could see each others mictrotransactions. Its a business afterall. Come up with a good and scam-proof trade system where player to player interaction exists and GGG might consider it.

Also, it is you, people to blame the most. You are stealing from each other. And you talk, like it is GGG's fault.

Scamming other players was originally seen as a feature of the game.
I don't see the problem here. If you pressed ACCEPT - you accepted the offer. So what's the problem dude? Cerebellar dysfunction syndrom or shit hardware? lol
I've honestly lost count of the number of viable, feasible solutions to this problem players have proposed. It doesn't even require anything as complicated as 'automated trade' -- all it takes is some means of telling, at a glance, the difference between a real and a fake. It's not fucking rocket surgery. TencentGGG went and made speed the primary feature of their game, and they're somehow surprised when people approach trading with the same attitude?

And oh fucking spare me your 'just be careful' crap. Easy to say that until it's you after running countless Maps, distracted and in a hurry to get back to it. One moment of impatience; one faltering second in your judgment. One single flicker of imperfection. That's all it takes to go from sanctimonious holier-than-thou this-wouldn't-happen-to-me-because-I-am-superior jerkoff to shamefaced victim of nothing more than TencentGGG's obstinate refusal to put a simple fucking QoL feature that *any other fucking game* would have done years ago.

Christ, it genuinely blows me away how much of this crap Exiles take *and then blame each other instead of a clearly inferior UI system*. Talk about suckers for a lack of succour.
And they said *I* was bad at PoE. At least I made it out of act 1 and know how to use the /dnd function. El oh fucking el.

It's even more than that.

There are many items that are traded amongst the community outside the trade window. From Chayula runs, to crafting bench service, to sharing Lab Trials (especially at league start), Cadiro purchase instances, rare hideout spawns, and more.

Unfortunately, people suck in general. For every good deed there are 3 assholes looking to make a few exalted orbs, which overall, really boggles my mind. Is there some enjoyment out of literally ruining people's experience, and sometimes impacting their actual well being irl? I truly don't get it. PvP or griefing is one thing; trade scams, ripoffs, cheating, account hacking, is quite another imo.

I would say that the problem has gotten worse, but I'm not so sure. Perhaps we just hear more about it. Sometimes I get nostalgic about this game and community, but perhaps that's just a byproduct of a game subsequently growing and attracting the darker sides of gaming.

Edit: some grammar / spelling, phone OP

Funny how Shavs has stood the test of ggg time. Still the only item viable for LL, which is pretty sad in this customizable loot based game.
Theres no such thing as getting scammed dude. Did you look at the item in the trade window or not before you hit accept? Its 100% your fault for not looking at the item and trusting who you're buying from. Try taking more then 2 seconds to do a trade and you wont get scammed.

I acknowledge it's a super complicated situation that runs the very real risk of chicken and egg buck-passing. But I'm one of those weird people who believes that reparations begin with a single step, that we should do what we perceive to be the right thing even in unwinnable fights. Few things rankle me more than that defeatist attitude of 'well, we'll never fix it completely, so why bother changing it at all?' I am obviously not accusing you of that -- I think we see largely eye-to-eye on this -- but I feel it's a step backwards to bring up other, more difficult problems when the one at hand has a fairly clear solution. Yes, PoE encourages people to be self-serving arseholes. We all know that. It also encourages them to be lulled into a false sense of security and routine -- when Chris said he wants PoE to be the sort of game you can play 'while watching TV', I'm fairly sure he wasn't be literal, but instead wants players to pulled into a drone-like state of repetition that, obviously, is the perfect time to pull the rug and shit on their everything with a single spike in harsh reality. Whether that's exploding corpses or some fuckwit abusing a laughably bad trading UI, that's that. You CANNOT afford to be lulled with PoE; you must always be at peak performance. Because if you're not, loss one way or another is inevitable. And...dude, fuck that for a good time.

It's been years, and virtually nothing has changed. If anything, it's gotten worse. TencentGGG could start giving away mystery boxes and stash tabs and I still wouldn't be able to consider them ethical or moral. It is impossible for me to look at all of this impassivity towards the ease with which Exiles can fuck each other over and not think it's deliberate by now.

But if they WERE to start acting like a more respectable game developer somewhere, I think making 6L sockets *all but glow in the fucking dark in the trade window* would be far from the worst first move. You cannot convince me that wouldn't significantly reduce the number of incidences of common bait-and-switch scams. You simply cannot.

And let me iterate my sentiments regarding people fucking right the fuck off with the idea that this sort of change is 'holding people's hands' or 'catering to the idiots out there'. NO. Get over your strange belief that user-friendliness is synonymous with dumbing things down. Reality check: UX is a make-or-break feature, and that you've allowed TencentGGG to convince you otherwise is a fucking travesty. If everyone thought that way, life would be pain in the arse at every turn. It doesn't have to be, not even with your precious hardcvre PoE.

Yup, pretty much this.

And also this. I 100% agree and have nothing to add, which is rare for me.

I'm glad we can finally have a discussion about how even taking moderate steps can at least reduce the likelihood of players having an experience which permanently embitters them towards this community.
