A realization about Path Of Exile economy, from watching Streamers
ill mention here something happened 2 years ago.
i was on trade chat, trying to sell chaos for EX, suddenly, a dude msg me saying:"for chaos or real money?". ill never forget that. the rest is with you, to make your own conclusions. iam a player for 5 years, in this time i droped 1 mirror. and economy for "normal" player is always this way, you cant make 1000ex legitly, not even with a divine intervention, and things at this moment got worst, trade chat is almost dead, ppl are posting items with insane prices, and when someone posts an item for 100ex, he realy do not have any notion about what 100ex realy means. my best recomendation to you, is be your self, u need to creat you personal method to make currency trade. u can mark alchemy orbs or fusing to make certain quantity then sell it for chaos or Ex. about streamers, that is propaganda method to fool ppl. and ill repet it to you. playing legitly is Hard, and this is the essence of PoE, it is your choice, kill or be killed. peace. " please explain for many people that currency is pocket change, so what does 100 ex mean in the current state of the game when you have 3-4k mirrors per league, which are 350ex and you have multiple people with 20+ mirrors |

" I have to say I'm amused how easily people develop conspiracy theories over a single random incident. That's not to say rmt doesn't exist, I can still recall a middle-aged working mom I knew who did spend real money on some very hard to get items in everquest. You wouldn't even think she played based on her appearance or general interests either. But this thought that these high ex transactions are just people buying their way is just a way to write off one's own disappointing performance. I dislike this league... a lot. Yet I've made more than usual simply by reducing the time spent on frivolous things. I typically have a hard time getting away from chaos recipe, and this league wasn't an exception. But just by eliminating that sooner than I normally do, I wasted less time micromanaging junk which I spent mapping instead. Don't get me wrong, I still waste too much time hoarding junk of limited value, but its gotten easier to "let go". For at least some gamers, the very concept of spending real world money on pixels is pretty hard to swallow. I mean, that's food, rent, bill payments, etc. Yep, totally over league play.

Chaos Recipe? Come on man... there's a guy here saying 100 Exalts - probably twice the amount of everything I've accumulated since 2013 - is nothing, and people trade that in League for a single item.
Saying there's a couple thousand Mirrors right now in League, or roughly one per a few hundred players, and I never saw what a Mirror looks like in almost 7.5 fucking years. The disparity is absolutely mind-blowing. If back in 2014-15 a "rich" player or Streamer made 10 Exalts for every 1 Exalt I had - now I'm a fucking light year away from the nearest "rich" player in the game. And of course the point is not me being envious of the 100 Exalts are nothing guy. It's GGG balancing around 100 Exalts are nothing guy, and giving me and the rest of us Chaos Recipe peasants a giant middle finger up our arses. While at the same time probably boosting motivation for the middle-aged working mom to buy her "starter pack" from You Buy Best Price Fast Delivery. Heck it was so much fun watching rich Streamer guys back in 2015, when they farmed all content or got a then-impossible level 100 with slightly more optimized and min-maxed gear compared to mine. It looked legitimate and believable. It showed skill. Baker fighting Piety. Pohx level 1 beating Vaal Oversoul without taking a single hit, heck yeah! Now what do we have? Fkn CuteDog not even looking at the screen while demolishing Level 8 Sirus for the 10th time in that session? How many attempts at a level 5 Sirus will I get in my lifetime? How many times getting one-shot by a beam will it take? Fuck this balance! Alva: I'm sweating like a hog in heat Shadow: That was fun Last edited by johnKeys#6083 on May 17, 2020, 7:31:50 AM

" But they AREN'T balancing around the "100 exalts are nothing" guy. You are wrong here, and people are proving it every day. Ignoring that, while keep making your point, seems... Something. GGG are balancing around taking advantage (or using) the tools presented to you. I don't trade much, and usually only sell, and I have more worth (I think) than 100 exalts this league, and I haven't been playing for almost a month. And I'm even playing melee, with no OP cluster stacking. Do I use the Chaos Recipe? Sure, it's a great league starter strategy. But it falls off the moment your build starts shining. Hell, my first 4 years in this game, I refused to trade, and played "self imposed" SSF. Fun? Yes. Productive? No. I hate to be blunt, but it seems you don't possess the knowledge/skill of the game that you think you do. You have to consider this option, no matter how long you've played the game. A skilled, knowledgeable player doing a couple of trades a day can easily acquire more wealth than you. I get that you exclude yourself from the "target audience", and you might be right. But this game isn't "balanced" around anyone, because "anyone" with 7+ spare hours a week can do 99% of what this game throws at them. Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.

What kind of game knowledge, Phrazz?
As I said I consider myself to be an above average player. Made a couple fun builds, contributed some wiki items, beat Shaper. Sure my skills are probably lower than someone half my age, and certainly one who plays the game for a living, but I can still describe myself as "good enough to have fun and achieve some goals". If the knowledge you're referring to, is mentioned earlier in this thread as track Chaos to Exalt ratios and playing the economy - then yes I fully lack that. Intentionally. I'm not "rich" nor will I ever be. But up to this point there wasn't any problem whatsoever with being "not rich" in the game. And as stated earlier the difference in wealth wasn't THAT crazy, except maybe that one guy offering Mirror Services and hoarding Alternate Arts. Now there is. The rich pretty much ignore the game itself, while I am locked out of many parts of it, and on the off-chance of getting a one-time only ticket to end game, I WILL be hit in the face with the same mechanics Chris wanted to hit CuteDog with. Except CuteDog doesn't give a shit, and I feel like shit. It didn't happen overnight. It was a gradual process. But it is what it is right now. Alva: I'm sweating like a hog in heat

You can do most content on budget and stop thinking the world turn around yourself.
There is content for high end players and there is content for the pleb. Just know your place and stop envy what is in the garden of your neightbors that's it. To vanquish without perils is to triumph without glory.

Content for high end players?
Who? Do you mean the ones who face-tank Sirus storms, or perhaps those who kill a Shaper Guardian in 3 seconds? I wouldn't care less if the game had Median XL like ultra bosses for the ultra mirror-geared Streamers to test their might. In fact I'd enjoy watching them try. But Path Of Exile doesn't have ultra content. It has content, and it gates that content behind RNG and crap, to such a degree an average player may see it a couple times at best, while the ultra player can do it on literally an hourly basis and give absolutely zero fucks about any difficulty mechanics. This is what pisses me off. Alva: I'm sweating like a hog in heat

" yes i agree that you hit quite fast a wall where upgrade only make the game easier and doesnt allow you to get through another milestone (tho delirium added simulacrum with wave 19 / 20 was something like that a bit so i liked it a lot). So yes i would advocate for a way to scale through ludicrous amount post sirus A8 especialy for the richboi and keep the rest quite accessible (as it is now tbh) To vanquish without perils is to triumph without glory.

" The rich people have, for the last 2-3 years, been able to "ignore" most mechanics in this game. A LOT of people view the possibility of being "OP" as the goal of these games. I couldn't care less that the rich people can do what they want, as long as the game isn't balanced around them. And it's not, because a lot of people, playing less than 10 hours a week, can do all the content you're "locked" out of. That's why I question your knowledge, because players with knowledge and know-how can beat all content in this game without being "rich". And when it comes to crazy, over-the-top content like 100% Delirium maps, I'm totally OK with the no-lifers having carrots and challenges too. What content do you feel locked out of? Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.
