getting hacked + no support = done playing.

I'm surprised Charan hasn't come by to slap some of you children posting. The OP is NOT asking for GGG to bend over for him. He is only asking for support. As I understand it he got hacked and GGG refuses to do anything to help his situation. This walks the path of the sadly-now-trending "horrible customer service".

It may or may not be OP's fault that he got hacked, but either way there should be at least some kind of support. Many other games, especially MMOs, do give support when an account is hacked. This does not have to be a full restoration like for example every single thing he had in his stash. I would understand not restoring currency items as to protect the economy the best they can but resetting the actual character itself so he can progress would be smart. Sure it will suck losing your currency items but at least you can progress with your character instead of being left butt-naked at level 33.

Anyways, OP, you should check whether you use the same email / same password on other forums, sites, etc. The main victim of random hackings are the people who use the same email or password on other less secure websites.

Guess what i've been playing the game since late 2011 CB. Never been hacked. Never had any suspicions of being hacked nor ever have I been worried about being hacked. Don't click that button that says "FREE POE HACKZ DOWNLOAD"

By that token did you deem your poe account to be secure as well? Or did you somehow determine it wasn't beforehand because I find it ironic you think your email is secure due to the safeguards in place for this exact reason.
You want to try and say GGGs flawed security is a result of this? Give me a single logical explanation as to why someone would target a 1-33 account full of garbage if they could use their proxies to brute high level players? I change my email password every 30 days. I used a token from my email to log in to find my items gone. It was their database that was hacked. Not my email. Do not pretend to know how I got hacked. No one here has proof who's fault it is. All I know is this is the first time I've ever had a hacked account and I am just a normal guy, not doing anything crazy. I work full time, cant level up much, not sure why they target my lvl 33 guy, but they did. That and this community full of kids? Yeah, maybe I'm just getting to old for games. I'm 25.

You have to understand: The reason so many people here are sceptical of your story is because if anyone attempts to log into your account from a different IP, it will lock your account and not let them on it. The only way for a hacker to access your account at that point is to check your email and use the access code there to unlock it, OR to log in on the same IP as you do.

So.. if you were really hacked, they must have also hacked your email (not GGG's fault) or they must have logged in on the same IP as you do.

That's why so many people here think something about your story doesn't add up.

One of two things happened period. The email was hacked or you gave your password to your buddy and he stole your stuff. If an account is accessed from an area other than your hometown (verified by ip) then it locks the account until you reverify by email. So either your email was hacked (not your gg acccount = your fault) or you gave out your info to someone in your town and they stole your stuff

All you ppl calling the op a idiot should maybe read around the web on how easy it is to be hacked.

It is not automatically that this player cheated or used a 3rd party programs. The easiest way to get hacked is through your facebook or email. These will come as messages as friends. You click to see what friend is up to and you get keylogged.

You guys ever hear of being hacked over programs such as java, silverlight, Even if windows is not updated daily you are at risk of a compromise.

To say that 100% is the user fault and "you used 3rd party software" kinda makes you ignorant to the truth of how easy it is to compromise someones computer.

Maybe OP shares a pc with family. One of his bros or friends clicks a wrong thing and the PC is compromised.

To be hacked sucks. I had my steam hacked and luckily I was able to get my games back. I do not use torrents or 3rd party sites/programs. But still was able to have my steam hacked.

I use different passwords on EVERY single application. THANK GOD.

Now some ppl are "idiots" that download shady application or use shady links. The sad truth is the profit over seas hackers can make off a compromise. Social media has become the place to be to fuck someone royally over.

Also hackers have been stealing "good" links on various sites and embedding it with a virus. This even takes the owner awhile to figure out the link has been changed.

Christ you can even packet sniff wireless signals to get that password and free internet. All these packets can be sniffed for every application.

I just hope some of you will keep in mind that not every hacked account is a users fault.

Everyone who thinks they can never be hacked take a lesson from me. I always felt the same way, that it was probably mostly there fault(though i would never rip someone apart for it, as that is what a shoolyard bully would do). I had NEVER once been hacked since i started online gaming with EQ original, made it through 2 accounts with wow, and diablo 3(two of the most hacked games ever) took pains to make sure my machine was clean, never download anything from someone I don't know, never go to shady or porn sites on my main computer(thats what we have ipads for:) ), never purchased anything from a third party site for in games goods, ect, ect. My passwords were most likely my downfall, but i still felt I was good to go as I rotated about 10-15 different passwords. I took a break during the worst of the hacking to play a different game, and missed most of the warnings. MY account got hacked the day before the patch to put security in(i know this cause i hopped on the night before for a few minutes to show a friend the game, and I was good to go.

Now i didn't make a specific post complaining, though i did reply to a few to warn others, but that doesn't change the fact that this guy doesn't deserve what he has gotten from the community. Its the same mentality as the assholes that blame rape victims. Oh you shouldn't of worn that, or why did you go there, ect. People called this guy a kid or a child, when they are the ones acting like one. To some degree, the blame has to be shared between the hacker, the service, and the user.

So to the OP, i feel your pain. Just make a new character after you have cooled down, it takes some of the sting away from not having your orbs. Then when you build your supply back up, go back to some of your originals. this is a game where you should have a lot of characters, its part of the fun I think. Hope you don't give it up totally. I feel the real reason they cant give back our stuff is they just dont have a big enough staff to police the situation. Not an excuse for them, but just what I think. I almost did quit myself, but im very glad I didnt.

I read your post though and if got hacked last weekend unsure how they by passed the logging in from different ip address. Oh I thought so poor Internet security.
