Still working on it, we finally have been able to reproduce the problem (for the first time ever) on one of the QA machines.
But due to our current planned work schedule and the time of year, a fix for this is still some time away. Developers need holidays too :P A rough estimate is 3-4 months away. Please bear in mind we are a small team, and while its a major issue for some, it does only effect a small amount of our player base. The audio guy.

" To those playing without sounds...you tried the registry fix? because only using the --softwareaudio command line won't cut it. Click to show the procedure.
Spoiler
Run Regedit.exe (registry editor included with Windows)
go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/Currentcontrolset/Control/Creative Tech Go to Driver folder. Then look for the PCI&VEN_1102&DEV_XXXX folder that should be there. Then click on the folder. Add a new STRING and name it DisableXRAM, and set it to a string value of 1. Tech guy Last edited by Warrax#2850 on Dec 11, 2013, 5:36:09 PM

Ya, I have the creative x-fi card too. Can not log in the act 3 crematorium any more. actually ,,, can't get past the Sarn slums.
I am currently running 32 bit win 7. I am planning to upgrade to 64 bit win 7 in a few days. Do you think that might help. The 64 bit will allow me to upgrade my ram to 8 gb. I was thinking that it might be a lack of memory that is causing this problem. Dan |

"Alternatively switch your soundcard to Entertainment/Music mode, that will also disable XRAM (And I believe EAX 4.0 and newer). This would also possibly explain why the --softwareaudio mode worked for me and not some others. I can confirm that the -swa switch does indeed get around the ogg problem. However it does put a greater stress on the game and it adds a choppiness into the smoothness of the frame-rate of the game(kind of like micro stutter).
After testing the other fix in this thread involving the modified files(OpenAl32.dll and wrap_oal.dll), i have found that indeed works and allows me to play the game with hardware audio and not have the Ogg crashes(30-40 hours of testing.) If the devs need any information that can help them potentially iron out the problem email me, i can upload any file you guys need, outline my setup and also post up all the different work a round's i have tried with the Creative Xfi problems (Mainly just the two, the BSOD issue revolving around the xram and the Ogg issue which has only cropped up since release.) But i can say atm i am not crashing at all in game and the sounds are all great and working in hardware mode on my setup. |
