This whole thread is full of stupid. The real world doesnt give a fuck if you are offended or not. No matter how much people get shamed on social media or on tv its not gonna make me give a fuck that you are offended. Ill keep on murdering who ever i please in video games and ill do it however i want. If that means i have to RP my way to some brutal genocidal murder then thats what ill do. Ill make sure to include all the women children and colored peoples too.

Unfortunately, your analogy is probably lost on the majority of PoE forumers. The vast majority of PoE forumers seem to be precisely the same kind of people who think movies nowadays are overly censored for coddled snowflakes.

I did like your comparison of Vaal portrayal vs. Karui portrayal very much, though. And I can't help but wonder if my first post in this thread stands as a reason explaining the difference - the Maori are extant in NZ today, yes? They are real, living, and breathing experiences that the game devs could actually speak to. In contrast, the ancient Aztecs are all dead. They aren't going to come out of their graves to shake their fists at GGG for taking the "60s Disney cartoon" approach to the Vaal.

I was thinking about my initial post here yesterday, and it occurred to me that 500 years from now*, I could bet you 10 cents that there will be a game where you can play as a NatSoc running a concentration camp called Audwilz trying to hold Jeduists in line and choosing which of them to put into Crematoriums. And you'd see the exact same type of discussion as this thread - a horde of people who feel bold about producing "offensive" content, as though ignoring the feelings of others is an achievement. And very few people will care, because the survivors of Auschwitz will have all been long gone, leaving only the stories passed on from parent to child to child to child as anything close to an emotional connection to the events that occurred.

Actually if GGG made a temple where you capture white citizens to the temple and torture sacrifice for loot everyone would start raging that its too much, but since its native americans killed by conquerors then its fine.

Well to be fair everyone is thinking about historical similarities only skin deep (which is a reflection of their own need for stereotyping "outrage").

The Vaal were not the low tech rubes being taken advantage of by a more more powerful culture in this scenario, they literally made a magic version of skynet and destroyed themselves... the "conquistadors" here are more like mad max-esque scavengers of that more advanced tech.

"But they were brown and looked sort of like a real culture" is all window dressing, and you should be ashamed of your own shallowness.
