ISP don't give tthat kind of information easily as it's a breach of user confidentiality. Same with Youtube.

Also, you can't assume that someone will use their real name on youtube and so on. So if the ISP/Youtube refused to share the data without a warrant, there's essentially nothing the FBI could do at that point.

You realize that it's FAR easier to find information on a shooter after his act than before, right? Being able to link that stuff to the individual is faaaar harder than linking the individual to that after he's know.

Eh. I’m not one to jump in defense of incompetent LEOs (imo, the station should be held to much higher standards), but it is easier to unravel the thread after the fact. That said, our entire digital lives are already laid bare for scrutiny, so yeah, they fumbled. I just don’t think it’s fair to suggest news media is any more competent ;)

Then how will you solve this? it's a very simple solution, get rid of the guns, people don't need them, we have tight ass control in australia and there are basically zero mass shootings... wanna know how many happened in america this year alone? like, 15 or something, a disgusting amount, you can't just say "NAH MAN, GUNS ARE GOOD" because fuck that, they're not, they're a weapon used to kill.
