Looting Issues

i'm not entirely against instanced loot, but on the other hand, it takes away some of the charm.

I know it was a pure frustration when everyone goes clicking like a madman (i still believe some people went to special schools for training in loot clicking), but it's something i could ultimately appreciate as part of the game

For me the charm was slightly different. I enjoyed treating mobs as slot machines spitting out random bits of payouts. Back then I had a Kathy system which meant playing with others left me empty handed. Probably why I don't gravitate to FFA systems in general to this day
I'll just throw in my 2¢ again.

Nakieon, you may have had a good experience with D2 looting because you live in area with low latency. I know people who would never get loot because they had a pretty significant lat spike every time Baal or Nihlakthak died.

I saw Tomb Reaver drop one time, and a bot with a picky mod got it before anyone else had a chance. It was honestly the blink of an eye, and we had no chance of getting it.

Think, Blizzard has a lot of resources, and GGG, as an indie dev, probably won't be able to block every mod that picks up items. Loot separation will be good for everyone here, I would just like to hear what Chris's design plans are for the game.
that immediately clears my mind about what loot system PoE has :).

I'm guessing instanced loot?

No, it's D2 looting. Instanced looting as an option is the reason I made this thread.
The loot system in diablo 2 was always fun as long as you were geting the good stuff from baal etc, but when you saw shako drop and you didn't get it cus someone with loothack got it, it wasn't so much fun anymore ^^
Yep I fully agree with the OP, being a hard game doesn't have anything to do with clicking like mad and bearing item thieves, those things only get people angry. Bottom line, D2 system is not fun, one has to be a spoiled kid to prefer that.
Since there are many leagues hopefully they can implement some different loot options depending on each league so everybody can find the right looting option for his taste.
i agree with the post above.
I hated the loot system in d2. One of my so called friends always looted the screen blank while i was fighting for my life.

In wow it was better, either rolling or having a lootmaster is better.
I for one believe active looting is part of the game, if you're partied with people you don't want taking your stuff, dont party. that simple. otherwise get some friends who would consider helping you out if they got the drop etc.
All for minions "modes" so they can follow, stand, or patrol.
