Best ways to make money in this game?
2x chaos/regal recipe. 6s items that drop (get an item filter or you'll miss them). Chromatic items>chroms, hoard those. Chisel recipe (20%gavel,rockbreaker,etc+any map to vendor). Purchase the currency with great rates from masters daily (some are awful though, research).
I personally don't "hold out for a better price." I try to get rid of items right away with cheaper prices. The only exception to this is if I strongly feel that a price change is coming on an item due to upcoming patch, etc. Remember the prices on poe.trade are NOT the going rate for an item. They are simply the asking price of the seller. If you're on Perandus, running merc Solaris 1 will net you many Perandus Coins and many Cadiros, as well as lots of rares for the x2 chaos vendor recipe, strongboxes, masters, and overall lots and lots of smaller currency (fusings, alchs, chisels, blacksmiths). " Some rares I stashed away in my Perandus league tab. Nothing extraordinary but very workable rare pieces. And I don't play that much.

Most of that shit wont sell. Intel is a suffix, stun recovery is a trash affix etc etc. One chaos shit most of it if that.
Boots with stun recovery and no movement speed... 11% increased rarity is too low to be worth a slot, Mana and 10% chaos resist w/ 250 ES chest... Vender that shit. Its garbage. You're clamoring to show the commonality of good rares some of which arent even remotely good, while missing the point. Also you link some 20 rares. I bet those were thrown in your stash some time ago and you vendered 999999999 other rares since then that were totally useless. Last edited by DamageIncorporated#7815 on May 12, 2016, 7:51:20 PM

You still get to ID a ton of rares when you focus on the chaosx2/regalx2 recipes. Rarely do you find 2rings, ammy, and a belt at the same ratio as every other required item.
And as pointed out above, most of those rares, while useful potentially, aren't very valuable/sellable. Last edited by Scotchfist#1987 on May 12, 2016, 7:48:17 PM

As a player since closed beta days, I have seen the challenges of trying to make currency in PoE. The game truly is a game of the have's and have-nots. In all actuality, I usually end up making about 30ex in each league. I set this as a goal each league, and so far have made it most times. Now to some 30ex is nothing in a 3 month league, but to others it is quite a sum most dream of. How do I do it? The key is having 2 toons. One for leveling and completing challenges, the other a designated MF (Magic Find)toon. I usually start leveling my first toon with little to no IIR. Start a store immediately. (you can start selling leveling items (rares and uniques) right away as you find them. Don't fret over not having much currency, (especially in normal and cruel)your goal is to reach areas with rare drops at ilevel 60. Once this occurs start the 2 chaos unid vendor recipe immediately, and then never stop. (I never quit running chaos vendor recipes the whole league). I then start stacking chaos, and trading for exalts, grabbing better gear I need, and keep leveling that toon to level 80-85, just so I'm comfortable with maps...etc.
Now its time to get into the big money: Time to build your MF (Magic Find)toon. Flame totem is very easy skill to farm with at early levels Spark with Vaal Spark (fastest clear speed I have ever seen) Lightning Arrow also good By now your other toon has worked to build some currency, buy the items your MF toon will need along the way. Gear He/she will need: 1) Sadima's Touch Wool Gloves or Aurseize Steelscale Gauntlets 2) Goldwyrm Nubuck Boots 3) The Peregrine Visored Sallet (helmet) or Goldrim Leather Cap (if you need the resists) 4) Perandus Blazon (belt) 5) Eye of Chayula Onyx Amulet 6) Any good rare rings, with IIR 7) Any good rare amulet with IIR (in time you'll give up Eye of Chayula) (these are all very easily obtainable as you level other than the boots, Goldwrym's can be more exp) 8) Item Rarity Gem (leveled) Set you goal eventually on: 2 Very good Ventor's Gamble gold rings 1 Very good IIR rare amulet (55% or better) Greed's Embrace chest piece(a high rolled 5L can be still very good) A good helm with high IIR (once you ditch the Peregrine) My goal is to reach 300 IIR and 60 IIQ (I call this my sweet spot) Once you reach Merciless Act 4 Grind Dried Lake. (I made 30ex in 3 weeks only grinding Dried Lake. Selling good rares running Chaos recipes, and selling uniques in my store. (Granted had 6 exalts drop, and two Brittle Emperor div Cards from Voll. (that helped too) Have fun!!!! Last edited by Gamr23#4849 on May 13, 2016, 12:18:10 AM

" If you set the bar that high, then you'll never be pleased. I inspected the rare items that all your characters wear. By your standards, most of it is shit as well. Heart of Purity

" Some of your points are correct, some are not. IMHO, there's only 3 things that really matter in the end (in this order) : 1 - Knowledge of the game : know your game, check the forums regularly, learn, don't hesitate to ask, deep knowledge of game mechanics, items, builds, content is the key to success. 2 - High level characters : Better 1 or 2 good, decently-geared level 95 character, rather than 20 undergeared level 80 characters. Good means careful planning and decent gear. This is achieved once again through knowledge (see point 1). Use online tutorials, videos, forums, chat with friends, with other players... The higher your character is, the faster and easier high-content area you will farm, and the better returns you will get. 3 - Trading : Forget MF and specific grinding. Fast and safe clearing speed is the key. Spend some time to build a well-made shop. Use Procurement or any other trading tool. Make sure your statut is online when you're online. Make sure all your items have buyouts (again, see point 1 to know the prices). Trading is the only way to *really* get wealthy in the long run. " Um...no. My characters are wearing rares I think are NOT shit and/or fit the characters needs. I'm saying the rares you link are objectively speaking a bad example of worth and value. This isn't about my "standards". The rolls are decent and not flat out useless or bad like 11% movement speed or 40 intell on gloves wasting a suffix slot that could be IAS or phys damage etc. You should get intel on amulet or ring not bloody gloves. Why argue my points? you'll lose. Besides, it doesn't matter what I think, fact is I'm right, most of the rares you linked are 1 chaos ( at best) Thanks for reminding me to put my account back on private. Mind your business, stay on topic and in the thread. " 30 exalts in 3 weeks isn't alot, just saying. Even I make that, the guy that plays the game, doesnt flip and bitches about path of trading simulator and I dont play MF. If you cant make 1 exa a day just playing, you're doing something wrong. My issue is you make many many many times more being a arm chair economy warrior than actually killing mobs for loot, to the point that it's nearly pointless to actually play when you can just flip and snipe.
