My question to you all is this, how do you keep up with all the scrolls of wisdom that are needed for that? :) you burn through hundreds of those things in a few hours

Vendor the crappy blues for

(or in most cases, shards of that orb) and then trade each of

to the vendor for 4 scrolls of wisdom? Shards of alteration trade for scroll fragments on a 1 to 1 basis. One thing to beware of though, there is a bug when you trade stacks of shards of alteration, you still only get 1 scroll fragment. You have to sit down and separate them into 1 piece piles or else you'll get ripped off. I think orbs can be traded stacked, but I rarely do that. I usually just snag one from my stash if I don't have any scrolls of wisdom and then id 4 items after I vendor my orb of alteration, selling the four items I identified for shards of alteration and then using those shards to buy scroll shards and using those scrolls to ID the rest of the items.

Obviously you can't vendor the items if they're worthwhile to sell to players, so you can only do this to a point, but scrolls of wisdom are quite easy to come by.

*edit* wow so if you don't newline after you link an item it can get kinda ugly.

geh... I never knew shards of alteration actually traded on a one to one basis for scrolls of wisdom... thanks for the info!

oddly enough an orb of alteration gives you 4 scrolls of wisdom. while the if you traded shards of alteration would give you 20 for the same amount.

Shards trade for a scroll fragment, not a complete scroll

20 shards = 20 fragments = 4 scrolls
20 shards = 1 orb = 4 scrolls

Same either way =)

In my experience (at level 54), identified blues often trade in for less than 5 shards. I don't think its actually viable to get more scrolls out than you put in.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that I was specific on shards trading for shards, not complete scrolls. :/

Also, on not getting out more than you put in, that's usually the case. *However* sometimes you ID some sweet gear with other affixes that trade for different shards like shards of alchemy. Plus sometimes the gear is just nice. I pretty much can never leave gear unidentified. Maybe if I start farming lower level zones where I don't care about the gear as much and I want to trade in rares for orbs of chaos or something.

oh damn misread, that's what happens when you read forums at work and you cant read thoroughly sorry bout that
I pick up Quality whites. Got a stashtab full of quality weapons and another for quality armor. 1 full tab translates into about 5-6 whetstones/scraps and one stack of whetstones/scraps sells for 2 stacks of wisdom scrolls.

Also people give you crazy amounts of wisdom scrolls when you trade them for a chaos n shit. Totally worth it imo.
Best ways to steady income in this game if you are new player:

1. chaos recipe
- sell entire set of unidentified rare armour (helmet, gloves, boots, plate, weapon(2h or 1h+shield or 1h+1h) ring x2, amulet, belt) to get 2 chaos orbs from vendor

2. alteration orbs
- sell identified rare items to vendor to get alteration orbs and sell alteration orbs for chaos to other players
find buyers here: http://currency.poe.trade/ or in trade chat.

3. loot filter
- use loot filter that highlight valuable items for other players and items that you can sell to vendor for various orbs (chromatics, whetstones etc)

If you ask the top players, they will say, dont pick up anything but currency, jewlery, the best bases, best uniques and rush as many maps as you can to keep the roulette wheel turning in the hopes of hitting somthing big.

However this comes down to your play style. I'm more inclined to enjoy my maps and I tend to use, and enjoy using all 6 portals to hoard gear. I also like breaking up my mapping with somthing more relaxed like sorting and vendoring my loot.

Again, comes down to what you want out of the challenge/permanent/race leagues and how you prefer to spend your time.
