Best ways to make money in this game?

Going back to post, too low lvl for maps SO: either stay broke til you reach higher lvl and can farm maps and bosses OR do what I do at low lvls pick up all the blues til you can't take it anymore (this for me usually occurs around the ledge normal lol) and then just pick up golds and all orbs, of course.

I'm not a streamer and I'm guessing neither are you so no one will give us free items. You have to work for it unless you get lucky which happens more than the cynics will have you believe and less often than one could wish. ;)
Censored.
First you have to learn to play... and I don't mean intellectually. You have to develop the reflexes needed to play at high level and learn the boss tells. You can't just overpower them.

Next, you have to find things people want but aren't willing to look for themselves. Maps. Mask fragments. Div cards. All sorts of stuff that people want but aren't willing to spend the time finding.

Then you have to live online and trade with people. Ugly people. Nasty people.

You couldn't pay me enough.

There in lies my problem I don't have the patience, time or care to get involved heavily in the trade game. I mostly play Self found with the odd bit of trading with friends. However with fairly average gear I am still having fun which at the end of the day is my main goal
Tu Meke GGG
From my experience when I start with a clean slate in a new league.
-I just build a budget and easy to play build
-Don't waste your currency and plan out your spending
-I don't identify the blues and reserve my minimal supply of wisdoms for rare items and npc them both. I keep really useful rares for later use. Don't vendor useful flasks.
-Learn your recipes: learn the chaos recipe and the chance recipe
-QoL: Learn to install and use a loot filter. Most good loot filters highlight good bases, people buy white bases for chaos in bulks. (e.g sorc boots, white belts, and agate amulets).
-Build a magic find character, usually totems. My fave spot is Dried Lake. Linear areas are great too, like Ledge in Act 1 or a straight run in Fellshrine at lower levels and quick runs.
-Adding the proper master craft on rares increases their prices imo.
Of course, there are vendor recepes just like the chaos one (at level 44, you're not high enough level to do that yet). Just pick up every rare you see, ID it, sell it (unless it's good).

There's always a small niche. Mine? Buy auras, vaal them, get the vaal version, flip it, get more auras... you get the point.

Either that, or just sell leveled up Purity of Fire.

Welcome to path of economy simulator. Where the drops suck, you gear up in a trade window and get rich by trading.

Helpful advise I have is sell all yellows for alt and alch frags, save up your alts and sell 750 for a exalt.
DO NOT sell them at 16-20 for a chaos or even 14 for a chaos. 16 alts is 2 fuse at the vender 16:1 chaos isn't worth it and only 14:1 or better is worth your time. 16:1 or more is a straight up rip off.

After you start getting IL60+ items, do 2x chaos recipe. Continue IDing all yellows except amulets and rings and possibly belts depending on your collection size of unid belts. head, chest, 2h etc are easy to find and do the recipe when all you need is a chest, 2h, gloves and boots.
Dont worry about how that shit may have rolled. It will roll bad. Take the 2 chaos.

Do NOT sell fuse for 2:1 chaos ( when it's 60 chaos for a exa or 100 fuse the math just doesn't add up ( 50 fuse is half a exa but 25 chaos is not half a exa)
do 2x chaos recipe. ( yes not 1x, trust me the jewelry wont roll good)

Do NOT sell vaal at 1:1 chaos...they are worth more like 2:3.

Save up all your chisels. Dont bother selling them.

Lots of noob traps and vultures out there looking for noobs to exploit. While you actually play the game they sit around making profit off of flipping your hard work.

Generally avoid selling currency outside of in bulk or in ratios that benefit you. 2:1 fuse chaos does not benefit anyone but the guy buying the fuse.

When you buy stuff on poe.trade shop smart. If you're poor dont worry about perfect rolls, those come at a premium.

Do not try to 5/6 link stuff, it's a trap. Buy 5L's on poe.trade which will be cheaper than how much it will cost you to link your self.

Oh, and also, save quality flasks. Make a tab called quality flasks. Vender a total of 40% quality and you get a Glassblower's Bauble.

Stop IDing blues. THe advise in a previous post to ID blues is bad advise. Waste of wisdom scrolls. Trust me when 99.9999% of all rares roll bad you'll get plenty of alt frags from yellows. You only have so much inventory space and blues are a waste of time.
The only blues you should pick up are links that will vender for a chromatic, or 6 socket items that will vender for 7 jewlers.

seriously, wtf is with all the 3 year old necros lately
Sure, the lab can be hard, but it's pretty easy if you're properly geared, and not terrible at the game.

the 2x Chaos Orbs recipe is the point where you realize, RNG is here to fuck you over so just turn everything you find into orbs ("currency") and don't even bother with it.
so DamageIncorporated, you have a strong point here.

I'm not there yet. I can't. my brain is still in ARPG mode not "wealth and trade" mode.
I still ID stuff I find. which is why I'm piss poor in economy terms despite playing this game for as long as I have.

I may get a once-in-a-lifetime rare like this beautiful thing when doing IDing:
Spoiler

but 99.9999999999999999999999999999999999999999999% of the time the rares are fucking crap, and I feel like I'm winning the battles vs. the beasties but losing the game.

rarely even picking things up anymore.
why bother? clutter the already-cluttered char inventory and waste portals hauling out garbage?
I remember leaving the vast majority of the loot in an Acton's Nightmare, recently - and that's one of my favorite maps...
frustrating.
Alva: I'm sweating like a hog in heat
Shadow: That was fun
