cant play game after update 2/29/2016 10:30 pm Update windows??

For those of you running Windows 7 Ultimate that have tried upgrading to service pack 1, be aware that there are 2 service pack 1 updates from Windows. After installing the first update and rebooting my PC system did read as having SP1 installed, however I still had trouble with the redistributable install. After searching for updates again I installed the second SP1 update and after rebooting my PC and launching PoE it installed the redistributable and patched automatically.

why GGG you changed the client? Why?

Dont you know what "IF IT AINT BROKE, DONT FIX IT" means?

Working raid striped with W7 ultimate 64, 6.1, Build 7600, no way i'm experimenting with Service packs and windows 10 now.

Please rollback the patch to fix it.

This is ridiculous.. I went from playing the game absolutely fine to not being able to launch it at all. And now I'm reading that this issue will only be fixed if I can personally fix it.

Well I've gone through all these fixes in this thread and multiple other threads including the reddit ones and literally 0 progress has been made. I'm still in the same situation I was hours ago when I ran into this issue..

I'm running windows 7 x64 WITH service pack 1.. I'm completely updated and I've tried dozens of times to uninstall/reinstall/repair the vcredist. I've tried both the one in the PoE directory and downloaded one from the microsoft website, neither have worked. They both hang at the "processing windows7_msu_x64" or end up failing and saying something like there's another install running at the moment, or the other error is that it's an invalid directory but I haven't gotten that one in a while.

So I'm at a complete loss on what to actually do.. An actual response would be nice from GGG so I could know if it's being worked on or if I have to figure this out myself..

Also I've never had any issue similar to this with vcredist, ever. It's always installed just fine when I've updated it or had steam install it automatically when launching a new game, so I don't know why this just suddenly started happening.

Gone to https://www.microsoft.com/en-US/download/details.aspx?id=48145 and downloaded the vc_redist.x64.exe.

After that tried to install. The installation hanged at "proseccing: windows7_msu_x64". Canceled the installation, restarted the pc and tried to install again. Rapair/unistall dialog popped up, repaired and everything works now.

This worked for me, I also went into msconfig and re-enabled Windows Update in the services tab. Win 7 Ultimate

solved this by grabbing all dlls wich were in redist 2015 package (chose your way of extracting those - either in vmware or from CAB file) putting them into poe bin folder. this allowed me to actually run the client app .
to get rid of nasty dialog "update your current system to" i simply specified in properties of *.exe to "run this program in compatibility mode" "windows XP (service pack 3)"

For those of you who refuse to update to SP1 because reasons, this will work for you.

its an .exe file, how do i grab all dll files?


its so ridiculous...its ok with XP SP3 and not with 7. GGG on drugs.

yep i did it. even tho i said i wouldn't do it. I did it. I installed a 500 gb ssd that i had been saving and a copy of windows pro sp1 just to make GGG and Microsoft happy. The game works now. But I am very UN-happy with GGG. why on earth would you make your players do programming work and research work just to play your game. I have no idea. To many Micro transactions maybe???????
