Berserk - and why this class should be immediately changed [Long] [it seems 2.3 fixes it all]

so melee players finally can stop playing solo and have a companion! and have a companion that clears even slower than they do! the thread has ran its course im afraid. i do not expect changes. when Ranger subclass makes a better melee pong-pong-ponger than Marauder's then there is little hope |

Didn't read all, just wanted to say.. it's painfully obvious both berserker and jugger is completely worthless and needs change.

Well, I once asked to get statues instead of totems, stationary archer statue for RAT, mage statue for spell totem and a slow-moving fighter statue for melee skills. I suppose it would take more work, but it would certainly look less ridiculous. And the MTXes would be a gold mine, there are only so many ways to skin a stone pillar, but a statue... centurion statue skin set, golden nude statue set, monster statue set, using armor skins on statue gems to dress them up... Wish the armchair developers would go back to developing armchairs.

Okay, so here's a thought for you all.
The whole point of being a Berserker, thematically, is that you throw yourself into enemies - meaning they damage you - and you kill them quickly as a result of this. Because you're a savage beast. Pain Reaver and Rite of Ruin fit the Berserker theme. It increases your tankiness, but requires you to be killy for it to work. The numbers might be too low to be appealing, but at least the core concept is right. Crave the Slaughter fits this theme and fights against it at the same time. The Attack Speed portion increases your DPS, but requires you to tank to trigger it - very Berserkery. However, the Movement Speed component gives you an incentive to avoid taking hits, which isn't Berserker at all. Aspect of Carnage doesn't actually fit the Berserker playstyle at all. It increases your DPS, and further discourages throwing yourself into the fray. It's an interesting benefit/drawback combination, but it is basically a nudge to play ranged kiting instead of playing like a beast. It might be interesting if Crave the Slaughter's on-hit trigger was more appealing, but Crave the Slaughter has a weak enough bonus that you'd rather just avoid hits. Cloaked of Savagery is mostly there to cover a weakness of Pain Reaver (boss fights), and it only triggers when you take big, risky damage. So I guess it's cool. I think, at a minimum, Crave the Slaughter should be changed to provide only "on hit" bonuses, and that Berserker needs at least two notables which fit the "mode DPS if you're taking risks" theme. This didn't mean Aspect of Carnage can't be a Berserker notable, but the class really needs more stuff which gives incentive to play risky, in-your-face builds in SC, and Aspect of Carnage is a ranged node, so it doesn't count. When Stephen Colbert was killed by HYDRA's Project Insight in 2014, the comedy world lost a hero. Since his life model decoy isn't up to the task, please do not mistake my performance as political discussion. I'm just doing what Steve would have wanted. Nice to see CoC GS working, always assumed it could be good because the wave has a certain travel time unlike reave or cleave. He probably sunk mucho dinero into it, I tried to make one a long time ago but it sucked ass with half the components missing. Wish the armchair developers would go back to developing armchairs.

the mucho dinero part i do not agree with. this builds requires crit/aspd on a scepter/mace (no phys damage rolls whatsoever), can be crafted via vagan (i have one hits cannot be evaded tenderizer) and a filler dagger to allow WB
rest is: crit rings, maligaro, rats nest - the most commonly used items in the game. it really doesnt need the dinero at all compared to other builds of the same clear speed now imagine the weapon needed by a melee build to reach half that speed. i bet it cannot be mastercrafted Cast on Crit is a cancer of this game |
