this class IS crap at the concept level


it gives some extra damage and makes a big fuss about it (10% damage taken) and encourages risky play for no gain whatsoever (that leech is NO gain, it is a noob trap)

yet Raider is given bonuses that are almost double that in raw dps output and general 'clear speed' with no drawback whatsoever
Deadeye is not only given a flat DPS bonus (far shot) but is also given +projectile or +chain to pick from. +chain is clear speed doubled, easily. not some worthelss 100% increased attack speed that tranlates to 20% tooltip increase. whoopie do.

and you know why this class is crap at the concept level? because i bet most GGG (including Neon and other balance guys) plays ranged/crit and pretty much doesnt care about melee pong-pong-pong classes. it is just amazingly plain from comparing the turd given to marauders compared to what bow users get

pick one you like the most
pick a coin
toss it 10 times. if you get 10/10 heads - delete this character

this is the equivalent of what you say. class that is BY DESIGN risky is a sh.. concept. no other classes are asked to risk so much for so little. berserkers were not dumb. you endorse a class that by design asks you to do dumb things for nothing (yes, these bonuses ARE nothing). why?

Well then, we have nothing more to do here in that case, change the title to 'scrap berserker and give us something substantial instead', we'll just bump it every few days until they do so.

And you have to understand them. I don't think it has anything to do with lack of playing, if they crippled ranged play hordes of barbarians will assault the aurelian walls howling 'the game is too hard - fix or we quit'.
Wish the armchair developers would go back to developing armchairs.

Just give up on it and start leveling your duelist or making a crit/bow build. It is pretty clear what classes they want you to play and it is pretty disgusting how obvious it is.

You'd hope I wouldn't need to say this, but every defense in the game is designed to have a failure point. Either is enough to keep you above, or it isn't. Fortify might seem "always on" but the truth is that it's binary - you die, or you don't.

Cloaked in Savegery isn't necessarily a bad defense. Although it's unclear how effective it'll be against Savage Hits, the intent is clear - if everything but Savage Hits is adequately handled by your other defenses, then CiS should cover the remaining weaknesses. It's not supposed to be a solution for everything.

This doesn't mean I think Berserker is strong. I think Pain Reaver, Crave the Slaughter, and Rite of Ruin are all underpowered (even if they're trying to do flavorful things), and considering you literally cannot make a Berserker without picking one of those... yeah, that's not good.

As I've been saying, Rite of Ruin should get scrapped, and its "Cannot be Stunned if you've Killed in the past 4 seconds" should get added to Pain Reaver. So I'm just short of saying to take 2 Berserker notables and combine them into one. That tells you how good I think this class is currently.

It's a noob trap. The numbers sound great but in reality they are pretty meh at best. A noob wont realize how massive of a penalty 10% increased damage taken is.
Need that manifesto post on Game Balance and/or Build Diversity.

Are melee considered the actual benchmark for game difficulty? Do GGG think the balance between melee/ranged/caster playstyles is in a good place?
We can only guess, and our guesses are not reassuring.
