Zeno - Trade Etiquette

I'm not gonna defend Zeno because as a popular PoE streamer, he simply cannot do this, but...
Did none of you guys ever once lost your shit, being all hateful, malevolent and revengy towards whoever caused it?

Of course. Back when I was 8 years old and had no self-control.
The more you depend on forces outside yourself, the more you are dominated by them.

I can understand why he did that. If you rip me off ill rip you off. If youre nice to me ill be nice to you. Thats how it works. Awesome streamer btw who does alot for the community and PoE itself.

An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind.

This makes me just scratch my head at the whole situation and makes me wonder why Zeno did what he did. I rarely watch his stream due to his general attitude, which is odd because while he does screw up and make mistakes, he does have decent knowledge of the game and can be helpful at times. However, in this case I really don't see why he needed to do what he did...this is the kind of stuff you'd expect to happen in grade school or middle school when kids think they're hot shit (they're not) and are invincible, and life hasn't given them a swift dose of reality (kick in the balls or other private parts if you prefer) at that point. Zeno is a grown adult, has been in the army, and he is no longer a child...so why is he acting like one in this case? And this isn't the only case, but this time, this time this is just stupid.

So he got 'scammed' out of 3 extra Chaos Orbs (which is beans for him), and instead of just ignoring what was said (joke or not, tough to tell) and leaving the guy's hideout, he goes flying off the handle because in his mind he feels 'justified' to act like an asshole. Nevermind the fact that when he Vaal'd the amult he got a better implicit for his build, so he actually made out far better than the price he was 'scammed' for. He could've not said anything, simply left, put the person on ignore, and his streaming video would've done the rest...that and his follower base, too. Instead, he rants and whines a bit, then ignores the guy, then rubs more proverbial salt in the wound just to mock the seller, and then he goes and uses up map portals and the like...acting like a Grade-AA douche-nozzle because again he feels 'justified' for doing so.

I'm not saying that I always take the moral high-ground (Lord knows I don't), but in this case the old saying "Two wrongs don't make a right" applies. And worse, he tries so desperately at the end to justify his asshole-ish behavior and ends up coming off as a little child trying to explain to his parents/friends why what he did wrong was actually right. It comes off as pathetic and simply shows his true colors and what he really is...people use the term 'manchild' more than a few times to describe him...and they're not far off at all. If he really wanted 'justice' or what not, then again, just leaving the hideout, putting the person on ignore and letting his video do all the talking would've painted him in a much different light and the 'scammer' would've gotten a pile of burning coals heaped on his head, so to say.

If anything, this really goes to show that not only is trade interaction in this game bad, but things like these actions to 'get back' at a person shouldn't be promoted in this game. There's only so much 'oh this game is cutthroat' can be used to try and justify people acting like assholes to one another before it crosses a line that shouldn't be crossed. Yeah...trade and 'social interaction' that GGG tries to promote either needs to be seriously worked on, or GGG may need to bite the bullet and do a little more QoL streamlining when it comes to trading if the community can't keep themselves from being this way, or that GGG cannot give the playerbase proper tools for dealing with this stuff.
This would not have happened if people respected and were kind to each other. It's not like anyone is going to be crowned the best POE player ever (except Ghudda ;-). Everything was cool, until he trolled him on his map. I bet even he is sorry for that, but we will never know.
Manchild acted like a manchild no need to make a whole thread about it. I'm surprised it went to 7 pages of repplies x.x
I feel it's a bit of an unnecessary witch hunt.

No doubt, he lost his temper and went on a rampage of negativity, and no doubt, he's old enough to know better. But it also happened after he was provoked by someone ("thanks for scam <3"), which is what set the whole thing off. Both parties acted poorly and need to grow up.

As for the language, well, that's what global chat is like all the time. The sheer amount of homophobic, abusive, dismissive, and highly immature and rude behavior is frequently appalling (it's even in character names). That is what a good portion of the community seems to be okay with, and so it doesn't seem that unusual to me to have a streamer, who is a product of the community, display the same behavior.

(This wouldn't have happened with an AH. <g>)
thanks for thread <3
