PoE already shrinking/dead?

When a popular streamer leaves so will some of his/her fanbase. Not a big loss imo. The less streamer fanboys the better. I'm not talking all people who watch them, just the serious fanboys who cant think for themselves and would jump off a bridge if the streamer said it was the best thing ever.

Kripps video views have nothing to do with how PoE is doing. He has a fanbase from D3, WoW, and PoE. There are any multitude of reasons he could be loosing views that have nothing to do with PoE.

And lastly the game isnt for everyone. It actually requires some skill, some thinking, and an oldschool mentality to enjoy. So people will always be comming and going. There is a whole lot of people left in the gaming world who havent even heard of PoE yet that will try it out eventually.

This is what every startup/new product looks like.
Given that the game went into OB less than a month ago, guess where we are on this graph. :P

Pretty much. Any game, especially f2p ones start out like that. Everyone checks it out (nothing to lose) and those who like it stick around.

That's only normal really. Eventually though numbers go up again if the game is good and some marketing and advertising is happening. Word of mouth can do a lot as well.

LoL might merit that graph, but most niche f2p games get nowhere neasr that bounce-back. They flatten the Promised Land level and just sit their kinda sad, with little or no new content because the playerbase doesn't earn enough to make new stuff regularly. A small-to-medium base might keep the servers rolling and allow new gem art to be added now and again, but I'd prefer a huge playerbase enabling quality monthly content or similar.

It's easy to say the game can do without casuals, but casual word-of-mouth is a big deal, and I feeel it's rather negative right now for Poe, just through reading various other forums. The reaction new players have gotten on the fourms just for asking for simple options to enhance their experience says it all, sadly.
Did you know level 91 is the halfway point to level 100? This means that a softcore character dying ONCE at level 85+ can lose many days of progress.

Maybe the devs can say something about changes of the playercount since the OB started. Without official values you can discuss endless...

I´m sure that a lot of "testers" left the OB since it started, the important amount of players will be the old and new core-gamers, which supports the game, and who did it in the CB.

I don't get why so many people are so concerned about their games population. What does it matter if someone else plays or not? If YOU enjoy the game that's all that matters. Who cares about anyone else,

I could be the ONLY player in a game, if it makes me happy I'd keep playing.

That's just my two cents though.

But, there seems to be less D3/WOW carebares lately. Which is a GREAT thing.

Funny, the immaturity in your post leads me to believe there are some still here to stay.

Full Respec,

This was just a result of people not having reached the end game (merciless). At endgame you are given so many free respec points you can tweak to your hearts desire, it was just out of the grasp of too many people still fresh in the game.

Auction House

The players have already invented one in the form of POE market, and the devs are implementing things like forum trading.... sounds like they got what they wanted?

and Instanced Loot.

FFA loot is an archaic dated design aspect that only ever came about due to technical limitation, the number of parties with "NO NINJA" "NINJA = KICK" and the general lack of public parties anymore should be a clear indicator that this is still very much an issue with a large portion of the community.

....I hope those baby's all left :D

I wish you would, yes.

You know, acting like a total bitch doesn't really matter does it?

...lol
yeap i already ragequitted cause no RMAH.
Im playing less PoE because of my studies. But Im playing Dota2 and POE exclusively and that is unlikely to change. Especially since the devs said they are planning 11 acts.

Seeing the number of people currently in the game and on this forum whining about the game having too much grind, being too gear and luck dependent, disliking how much they have to repeat and kill things and not being able to understand anything at all about the skill tree and begging for full respecs because they werent knowledgable enough to plan ahead, or realize that these kinds of games are all about trial and error if you are new, its absolutely no surprise that loads of newbs to this genre that have normally had their hands held through simplified easy RPGs wont like PoE and will leave because to them its a bad game.

By this logic, D3 would be thriving, but is ISN'T. It is false to state the ARPG fanbase want casual depth because D3 proves it's not true. D3 is a casual-friendly bad ARPG, this is a casual-unfriendly good ARPG. Neither wins. The first casual-friendly good ARPG is going to dominate all. PoE could easily be that with a few simple options.

D3 sold millions, so there is a vast audience for ARPGs.

There is a vast audience for people who'll play through the game once on normal and then forget about it.
Although TL2 and D3 have had huge sales they also had a very substantial loss in player numbers.
