Let us talk about the +3 trick

This is ok for people who want to grind masters in temp leagues for a month.

For those who don't play the leagues, this is a non-event as there's much better builds out here than builds with +3 bows/staffs.

This sums it up.

1) it requires level 8 masters
2) it's not "cheap"
(cost of 6-link + craft cost itself)
3) economy will naturally adjust to this now that it is known
4) it has no impact on early ladder competition

it's still too cheap for an endgame craft. And no way that GGG nerf the skills, that would be really a stupid move that wouldnt solve anything, they will make the craft more costly and less deterministic, that's all.
IGN TylordRampage
It's not an end-game craft.

People seem confused but a +3 staff doesn't make it a top-tier craft.

Have a look at the +3 mirror staffs from standard. . .that's top tier power. These staffs don't come close. It's an upgrade to what people had before sure, but it's not BiS or top-tier.

you also won't see these appear until +- 1 month in the league depending on how fast people push masters. As such they are irrelevant to the core competition which usually ends at 2-3 weeks in.

What exactly are you basing your "it's to cheap" off?

5-link staffs/bows will go up to compensate most likely, as will 6-links. Since the craft is guaranteed for X orbs, the cost will be shifted to the base items that enable it.

If it hypothetically costed 20 exalts on average to create such an item and the division was

7exalts for 6-link base

13 exalts for roll cost

Then in the future it will be

15 exalts for 6-link base

3-4 exalts for crafting costs

And a new equilibrium will establish.

I'm assuming that GGG don't want everyone to run Uber on a daily basis with a few exalt gear. Yes they will destroy this method, soon. Or those SRS/PA would get a nerf (dont think this is possible, but who know? )

I really don't see the big deal here. We're not talking about the difference of having a +3 staff/bow and no +skills, we're talking about the difference between having +3 and +2. Rolling a +2 staff/bow has always been extremely simple and pretty cheap. That one skill level won't mean the difference between not being able to run Über and farming it. Getting a +3 is not like getting a Mjölnir, it's just a small upgrade to your +2, and there seems to be some massive overestimation of the significance of having a +3 going on here for some reason.

Spending a few exalts on your endgame weapon (when not counting the cost of linking it) seems like a reasonable price to me. It's what most build-enabling unique staves would cost. Whispering Ice without full sockets is a couple of exalts, Pledge of Hands unlinked is a couple of exalts etc. The cost of a +3 staff from this method is perfectly in line with other staves.

If you also have empower than it makes a pretty huge difference for a skill like poison arrow.

With empower a +3 bow has around 32% more damage than a +2 bow for poison arrow.

Nice Trick.

GG Economy. At least a small group of players made 20000 exalts out of this.
The real hardcore PoE players and the elites sit in town and zoning in and out of their hideouts trading items. Noobs that don't know how to play PoE correctly, kill monsters for items. It's pure fact, it will never change.

Welcome to PoE.
And don't worry guys (for those of you who paid all the exalts to get these items), GGG won't nerf it. This is working as intended. Those players just found out something they can abuse "legally" before you did (from a GGG DEV or not).

Props to them, and welcome to PoE.

The prefix/suffix cannot be changed opens up so much more for crafting now :p

Tho i would argue that it was a lot less obvious than this, since there is no sense in scour not removing all mods.

worst.arguement.ever.

just looking at the word "engame craft", well some builds run around selffound with shitgear and can get to 78 easy peasy. less then 1 ex investement in a summoner? well 80 maps here we go.

not only are you looking at only 1 item (besides not mentioning aquiring a 6L staff first) but you are only looking at 2mods (+multi manareg/mana/castspeed) while the rest are inferior crafted mods. this is not "BiS"

to be perfectly honest a BiS whould also involve the +1 support gem mod from catarina. good luck on crafting that.
Whether it should be nerfed or not aside, if you look at GGG's past actions whenever a relatively cheap avenue into end-game gear becomes available, they're pretty keen to nerf its accessibility.

Just look at the hybrid weapon master craft mod. Or Bringer of Rain's troubled past.

i think its save to exclude uniques from this discussion since you really dont craft them. you reroll them at best but you know what to expect
It seems like there were a lot more of "triks" that GGG exposed only to so called "SELECTED ONES" ...

Thats disgusting...
