The Divination Card Easteregg
" They drop like candy:
Spoiler
+ several already vendored Ontopic: it was obvious that these cards (higher tier ones) will be useless for self-found play. Because they reward exact items, come in fraction of an item and you can trade them, their drop rates must be massively nerfed. In any case, how would you rather play the game, to obtain a 6L chest: 100 hours of grinding nothing but Fellshrine ruins, or through 100 hours of "regular" gameplay (diverse map grind, master dailies, a little bit of trading on the side maybe...)?? Tho, as I already pointed out, some of these cards are useful. The Lover for eg. which gives you a high ilvl jewelry, drops very regulerily in Graveryrd map (got full set in the same map instance, twice already). The Gemcutter also dorps a lot in mines, to the point you can actually go farm yourself a GCP and will get it in a "reasonable" timeframe (if you are strictly SF, else trading is still 1000x faster) When night falls

Right. Cyzax is correct in his reasoning. This does not mean the drop rates are perfect. There may be good cause to reevaluate specific card drop rates; however, they will never be raised to the point players' seem to be expecting. I'm rather dismayed how people cannot see how absurd it is to think that divination cards would double any specific item's occurrence.
Even still, unless GGG reduced global drop rates to compensate for zone-targeted drop rates (which both would and wouldn't be a bad idea, btw, for its own merits and flaws), then the frequency of any specific item's occurrence was increased. Even if you will never farm a full set, the act of zone-targeted farming for a portion of a set, and then trading them, is a huge win for you. You a) get currency which can be saved up for said item and b) increase the supply of that specific item in circulation, thereby making it easier for you to acquire one over time. The cards are a brilliant fucking idea, but maybe GGG should have called them vouchers, or down-payment receipts. Literally, everybody participating wins; the only people who don't are those ignorant of the fact that they cannot escape "economy," even by playing SSF. Devolving Wilds

" I mean ok some cards should have lower rates. But when I find 3 to 4 solid uniques and over 30 chaos orbs and yet I don't even complete a 40 scrolls set? Yeah. Real dumb. |

" Pretty much. I'm betting the creators of low level decks would agree. Last edited by Taganov#3778 on Jul 17, 2015, 1:13:23 PM

Played for 8h straight today, found 1 reign of chaos and 1 Metalsmith.
In comparison: 6c, 2 regret, 3 vaal, 10 alc, 12 fuse, 24 jewl plus lower currency and two crapgendarys on top in the same time...... Last edited by schnabltir#3127 on Jul 17, 2015, 9:51:46 PM

I'm level 76 and have gotten 2 divination card drops. One that requires 7 (!!) cards in order to receive 3 chaos and one that requires 3 cards in order to receive 40 scrolls of wisdom.
Meanwhile, I've had 4-5 chaos drop randomly. My understanding of divination cards was that they were supposed to help people rack up some currency early on and act as a tool in order to get away from the feeling that making decent currency in this game is based on random luck (i.e. getting that drop that's worth lots of ex) or insane amounts of hardcore grinding that's reserved for the top 0.5% of the player base. Maybe I'm in the wrong zones or something (feels a bit counterproductive if you have to grind certain zones to get the cards), but can't help feeling a bit disappointed with it. |

" Like candy ? Wtf ? I'm doing +170% 74~77 Maps over a week and i haven't found ANY unique jewels yet. I got one from Jack in the Box card ONLY, and it was Army of Bones. That's all. Dream with me ! Last edited by Hilldrake#6698 on Jul 19, 2015, 6:52:31 PM

" That situation highlights the problem of drops in the game for me. One will have a huge luck and think it's perfectly fine while an other one will feel bad or is struggling with the same amount of time invested. RNG is RNG yeah i know, but still. Div cards were supposed to reduced the gap between the really lucky and the others but that's where they fail. They are too rare so it accentuate the disparity even more. Maker of ZeeL's Amplifier.

Anyone else feel this way about the cards by now? A little time has passed after all....
Looking forward to all your feedback! |
