The Divination Card Easteregg

trading => efficient wealth re-distribution => a set of div. cards must be (a lot) more rare than the item it targets, else you buff drop rates too much.

Their drop rates must be adjusted for: trading, botting & people who play like bots (16 hr grind same zone)

Tho, there are some that impact gameplay regularily enough, eg:

The cards drop so rarely they hardly make an impact on the players experience, really all they do is make it so that they have something 'semi-valuable' to trade to higher level or more wealthy players. And honestly, a player that doesn't do his research can get easily ripped off on something like The Brittle Emperor, Celestial Justicar, Queen, etc.

And if we're gonna start balancing around people who 16 hour grind all the time, this game is fucking doomed and you know it. The map change that you are bitching about is one of the changes that was specifically made because of people leveling to 100 too fast.

"Hey look... that guy who is number 4 on ladder already dropped 5 sets of a given divination card, lets reduce the drop rate of it."

A game should never be balanced based on that 1% of the community who plays 24/7.

When i first saw this new concept i thought that was an opportunity for self found players but i'm not very sure now...

I needed a tabula for my build so i thought ""I'm going to farm non stop the aqueduct until i get my tabula..." simple right? Well, not really, after ~80 nearly full cleared aqueducts I've only got 1 out of 9 tabula cards. By that time i was way ahead of that instance level and already "suffering" from currency drop penalty. So i moved on and I ended up buying one Tabula from currency that i made selling rares to vendor.

So, now I'm confused. What's the point of the divination cards? Tabula is a quite common unique drop, the real problem is YOU dropping it when you want it. The probability that you drop what you need is very low but be sure that many people will drop it. So, if i wanted one but i had no currency for it i should farm it via divination cards but if i can buy one faster just farming rares i really don't see the point of Divination Cards, it's like a noob trap.

IF it was a mjolner or a shavrone or any other very desirable and rare unique i think it is ok for the divination care to be that rare... but farm that much for a tabula seemed pointless.

So, all in all it is just more RNG to the game unlike they said on patch notes: "They (Divination Cards) allow players to systematically work their way to the acquisition of desirable items, without having to rely on random chance alone."
My point exactly!

The best way that GGG has eliminated inflation is through their challenge leagues and races. I noticed your main characters are on Standard, and I can understand your frustration with how flooded it is with gear and currency. But you have to understand that those are the dump leagues. You being in standard, are never going to have a proper form of combating inflation. Sorry, but standard and hardcore are just dumps for the races and leagues, and will always continue to fill up and become inflated. I get that you're a player of the game as well, having a level 90 character with good gear is impressive, but not everyone will make it to that point, and a majority of the players don't really even touch standard or hardcore, and mostly stick with the challenge leagues, myself being one of them.

Who said I was Frustrated? I'm not. I think the economy in Standard is actually working quite well.

You may think of Standard as a dump league (GGG may do so too), but it is also quite well populated, probably by players like me who don't have the option of adapting to the race schedules or progress to a worthwhile level in the challenge leagues in the relative short time they run.

I know how game economies work though, and limiting drops and creating items that are 'rare' is a good feature. I've gotten around 10 cards since 2.0 came out, and I haven't really played much. That's a decent enough drop rate.

I did... It was all on the same level as the rest of your post, complaining that there was no instant gratification of suddenly getting an abundance of stuff and being able to pick and choose what you got...

Yeah, because look how that turned out for Lineage 2's economy. It went to shit. 2.0 did alot of things that were great, but suddenly it's starting to look like it has just shit on everyone that isn't a no lifer/trade mongerer.
IMO GGG only did these cards for marketing purpose, they advertised it like a +1 feature that can grant you your dream item you never got before by farming particular places but the fact is they intentionally made the drop rate so low it doesn't change anything. Can't imagine how much money the grabbed from the supporters, the ones who made the cards and the ones who bought themself in to the beta, because the invitation timer was another big lie.

Long story short, i have found 1 out of 8 of the 1 Chaos Orb card since release, i am on my second char now (soon 70) and found like 20 chaos orb as a drop.
"I'm programmed to say something that is kind and uplifting at this point, but there is apparently an error that is working in my favor."
I didnt want to say it as harsh as you just did, but I feel you!
I said it many times before and i say it again : the drop rate of those cards is terrible.

I reached lvl 82 and decided to farm my own card (metalsmith's gift) in mud flats. I FOUND MORE ALBINO RHOA FEATHERS THAN SETS.

For a fucking white ring.

Some say that the game is balanced around people playing 16 hours a day. Since launch that's pretty much what i did, and i can say the same as usual, the game isn't balanced around playing but around trading. Cards are no exception to this. They are so rare that it's sadly an other item that trader buy from people that find them when just passing by when levelling.

Farming for cards is a stupid idea right now and i'm the first to be disapointed by this trust me. I knew GGG would choose the overkill rarity once again that's why i chose a really common item for my card and yet they managed to make it a pain in the ass to get :(

You might as well have not...

No one is talking about abundance, but picking and choosing what you got was the entire purpose of div cards. That goes to show that they've been implemented badly when I can get my target item/s from old fashioned farming WAY FASTER than I ever would by just farming the card. Div cards will mean something if they drop at the same rate/numberOfParts or at least with a very comparable droprate. Otherwise they are something that exists, but no one will use, except for the most die hard trade-haters.

You failed to answer my question, so I will advise you to at least go into docks and start farming the fusing cards. See how you like their droprate and see how many days it will take you to gather 1 set. I'd be eager to find out and laugh my ass off at that info.
